It's great that those of you in Japan or elsewhere who speak the language can give links to products and information. However, it does the rest of us no good whatsoever if we don't read Japanese. I can't find a translator that does a good job of translating it, so perhaps you all could give at least a summary breakdown of what the links are selling, especially names and prices of inks? As it is, I don't even bother looking at the site once that I see it's all in Japanese. It's a hopeless case, because I don't know even one Japanese character .

Ah, that can be difficult. As with between most languages, there can be more than one way to translate some things. For example, the KN inks give both the Japanese name of the colors' inspiration and the scientific name. Different J-E dictionaries may give different English names for the same Japanese name. Googling the scientific name can give a list of names for you to choose from.

If someone took the time to translate the name of an ink to Englih, it still may not help you as a shop in the States may call it by another name.

For examples. KN has a very nice green in their insect series. The name I found for it is "Evening Cicada" but is often called " bug green". There is an ink that every one is fond of calling "about to leave" which as far as I knew means " going out" in Japanese and this was confirm by the Japanese half of my family.

Lacking an agreed upon way to render Japanese ink names to English, it is imposible to do so for many if not most.

Whereas I think of those inks as "Higurashi" and "Odekake," respectively, mostly 'cos those names are a lot shorter! :)

Google Chrome has a translator in its browser--translations are a bit rough, but it's quite enough to get by. It's allowed me to make many a purchase on Japanese sites.

+1

It works fairly decent... However, Japanese seems to be a very hard language for the virtual translators to cope with.

they could but at least if your in Japan that means you can have Sailor deliver the goods straight to you...

Unfortunately there is little chance of me visiting Japan any time soon lest moving there. Also do you know if there is an up to date list of Sailor exclusive inks?

This thread is the most up-to-date list of sailor Shop exclusive inks out there--at 115 pages long, it's one of my favorite reads. B)

Oh yes. And I'd love to see something similar for Sailor shop exclusive pens ... or maybe just a list of shops that do Sailor shop exclusive pens?

I believe Sailor Shop Exclusive pens are mentioned through out, but they're sparce islands in this long thread. It would be nice if there wash a stand alone thread for that, but how dangerous that would be! XcO

ohh yeah has anyone actually managed to archive Sailor's currently in production inks including all of the shop exclusives?

from the top of my head we have

48 Nagasawa Kobe inks

15 Bungbox inks

8 Shikisai

10 Onnago-Iro days

3 standard inks (black, blue-black, blue?)

2 nano-particle inks

8 pens and message inks

8? Athena inks

15 Kingdom Note inks (I knew I was missing 1 shop) I just couldnt pin point

anyone else living in japan willing to contribute?

would it be too much If I call Sailor the "Diamine of the far east"?

despite making their own pens which Diamine doesnt...

Perhaps I should clarify what I meant: is there a post which has an up to date list of Sailor exclusive inks like the one quoted?

Two points.

Unless someone is capable of updating the list daily, it can not be up to date. A shipment of several colors ink arrives today, some sell out before the end of the day, others over the next couple of days with no word on when nor even IF these will ever be back in stock.

Second point.

As many if not all shops have a one bottle per color and some even reported to have a limit of one bottle period per customer, thise of us who live here are not amble to satisfy our own desires for pur locally produced ink. If we pick up a bottle of ink for someone else, it means we can not get a bottle for ourselves.

Yep, That's why i am not keen anymore on picking stuff for others. I personally know some of the shop owners who let me purchase any number of bottles i want, but i rather not do that anymore.

On the other hand, i managed to pick up some morita inks last month when i was in Osaka. I saw a writing sample of Shade green, but no one has posted a writing sample of wine red.
