The leather on the covers is really excellent, hand tooled and stitch, and it is very reasonable on the entry level. Some of the designer stuff is expensive, but all of entry level included is off the charts in terms of quality/

As someone who is new to FPs and the FPN, I am so glad I came across this THREAD!

Everything I need, some extras, some flexibility, in the perfect package.

I've used plenty of planners, most left me wanting more of one thing or less of another. This strikes a perfect balance of what you need and structure and space to make it your own.

SOLD!!!!

The best planner I have used, functionally, is Planner Pad. Sadly, their paper is NOT very FP friendly and generally requires use of an F/EF pen.

I plan to cobble together a working system where the Planner Pad remains my primary planner, and the Hobonichi becomes a on-the-go supplement.

True bliss: knowing that the guy next to you is suffering more than you are.

The original techno planner is Tomoe. It is fp friendly. Is there ghosting or see through due to the fact it is on 55 gsm? Yes, but there is no bleeding or feathering. The only really issue is that Tomoe like Clairefontaine or Rhoda is coated slightly and repels not absorbs ink. Therefore in wider nibs you have longer dry times. And there is ghosting, but that doesn't make it impossible to use both sides. Now the non tomoe sizes may be more like Moleskine. but Tomoe is incredible paper......

I placed my order on August 31 for a new planner, some note pads and photo holders. My order arrived yesterday, Sept. 8. This is faster than some shipping within the US! I couldn't be happier with the quality or service.

Do you have a 2014 techno planner? Just wondered how the paper in the 2014 version compares to the 2015 and the notebooks.

TIA.

I do have a 2014 and I just compared my new 2015 with it. I can't find any discernible difference between the two. I just wrote in the new one, using the same ink (Iroshizuku yama-budo) I used initially in the 2014 planner and the paper appears to have the same texture, same temperament when it comes to ink.

I got mine today. The workmanship is incredible as expected. I got the Arts and Sciences cover in natural which set me back and in (cover, planner and shipping) 179. It took 4 days after the processing to get here.

The hand tooling and attention to details are incredible and artisan based yet very refined.

The planner is the same 55gsm Tomoe as last year, no worries there. Well with the one caveat of dry time for wet nibs, but that doesn't bother me.

I got my order today (err, yesterday, as it's 2:44 am where I am now)--the mailman left a note on the door (nobody was home around 9-ish in the morning), and I was a bit bummed, only he came back that afternoon to try again! :D

I got the hana hane cover along with the original A6 techo as I find it nicer than the English Planner and I'm learning Japanese (and it's got the bonus gifts not included in the English Planner), and it's pretty! I bought quite a few writing stuff (markers and highlighters) to use in drawings, but I'll be using mostly fountain pens. Now I'm wondering if I should've bought an A5 to go with this to use as a daily drawing journal...=.= My sister bought the sometimes lucky cover with a Sunday start techo and tons of goodies that I'm sure I'll be able to use too. :D The problem now is waiting for Christmas so I can start using this beauty!

My Hobonichi Planner 2015 arrived this morning in the UK, 5 days after posting from Japan. Treated myself to a new dark blue leather cover, rather then re-use one of my existing covers. Looks really smart and is beautifully made: hand-stitched, soft and with a lovely texture.

Ooh, nice cover. I ordered mine coverless because I thought the binding might be sturdy enough to stand alone. I may have to get a cover either way.

I like the idea of also getting the A5 "Cousin" as a daily sketchbook.

Migo984, Thank you for posting a picture of your Hobonichi Planner.

You have inspired me to make my first purchase (I opted for the cousin with the Midnight Blue leather cover) I can't wait to receive it!

Cheers and many thanks

How come you all got yours already?!! I ordered mine as soon as the shop opened and they only sent me a shipping notice to Europe on Monday though it was actually only sent it out on this Tuesday. I know I cant use the planner yet but did order lots of other paper and related stuff! Cannot wait to get it! I did not order a cover as I want to use my Avec version in my homemade A6 Midori together with a few other notebooks. Also got the weekly diary which should be a perfect planner combination as I definitely do not need to carry the whole years worth of daily days. Just hope I get on with the japanese writing.

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

Ordered mine on Thursday and received an email saying it'll be shipped on 16/9 or 17/9 - can't wait! Based on previous experience I should have it by 19/9 or 20/9.

I ordered the A6 size and will use this year's cover (Robin's Egg Blue Leather) as it's beautiful and I love it. I also ordered the A5 version with the cheap Black & Pear cover. I prefer A5 size but am not sure whether I will take it everywhere with me like I do with the A6.

Having both sizes next year will enable be to choose the better size for me for 2016. Well, at least that's my excuse for buying 2.

I also bought the memo notebooks to insert in the pocket in the rear of the cover.

Just as a matter of interest, if you don't mind me asking. Were you hit for import charges and a handling fee by the Post Office?

Best Wishes,

David

No. It was delivered without attracting attention of HMC & E. I find that most goods I buy direct from Japan rarely get hit with import VAT & admin fees, unlike items from the USA, that get stopped every time.

Many thanks for the reply - guess I'll chance it.
