I've read a lot of good things about this ink. It seems to be one of those inks that is hard to beat for what you pay for it. Unfortunately, it leaning more towards blue than to black is exactly what kept me from buying it so far.

And on a slightly related sidenote... I decided to try the Sailor Jentle Blue Black in my Vac 700, as it writes a little more wet than the 580AL. Works like a charm (so far). But I did find out that Sailor Jentle bottles are #*$&%#^$!!! to pour ink out of (I was trying to fill up my Vac 20 ink bottle). What a mess (and yes, I took the plastic reservoir thingy out first...). Next time I'll use a syringe, good thing I have a few 25ml ones left from when I had a drain in my gut...

Glad you made a choice. Can't wait to see your findings.

For reference so you can see if my swatches match your inks.

My favourite blue-black ink is Noodler's 54th Massachusetts which I use to write daily. It is a beautiful, bulletproof blue-black ink. Love it.

The Sailor Jentle ink is what I'm looking to replace as it doesn't meet my requirements for an everyday ink. :)

Hmm.... it (the Sailor Jentle Blue Black) does meet all of the requirements I need for my pens. And the smell of phenol is a treat on top!
