What is the UGLIEST pen ever produced ?

I actually don't dislike all of the Krone LEs - just most of them - but the fat-bodied ones like the Albert Einstein are pretty, um, special.

They look like they've had no design sensibility applied whatsoever - just a bunch of Einstein-related stuff slapped haphazardly onto an already-ungainly pen.

My , yet to arrive, Conklin Halloween. As for ugly, and in the category of "it wasn't broke so why fix it", the new look of this site.

Thanks

I agree completely: Krone. And I would like to add: David Oscarson, most of Mont Blanc and any others LE and WE. Plain and simple ugly.

The Legs of M have killed every other "ugliest pen" thread stone dead.

Well, yeah, next to the "oh-god-what-is-that-thing" creations of Michel Audiard, even the ugliest Krone LE is just a pretender to the throne.

I took this photo at INK in Minneapolis earlier this year. Same designer.

Adam 11, my MB Poe is top looking:send apologies.

Indeed, I'm so sorry  didn't mean to offend your precious.

Luckily, "pretty" or "ugly" are subjective categories. And that's why this topic is so much fun to read.

OMG I forgot about Michel Audiard's pieces. Maybe because I've never consider this a writing instruments. But I like ants. Not the pen. Well...

t the last Leather Inc. pen show in Lexingtion Ky., my wife bought one of those--a blue and white one--it is BIG and to my arthritic hands, very uncomfortable. She doesn't use it--but thinks it's cool. I would have to gives this "pen" my vote as the ugliest.( Supposed to be attached to Jean Pierre Lepine Free Ride post above==sorry new format!)

Are you serious you think the waterman serenité is ugly ?

I think its a beautiful pen.

Oh well different strokes to different folks. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yes I do for these reasons:

-the barrel looks like too much of a katana holster something not really in the waterman tradition

-the nib is ugly and very unoriginal

-it is an unergonomic pen

so...

-i think waterman is a brand "in motion", its tradition is "create something new".

-the nib is ugly only in your mind and it's instead pretty and a good writer.

-if you think this pen is not ergonomic you need some lessons of ergonomics.

Well, having tried a dozen of serenites with various nibs, the conclusion is always the same for me. The nib is a very rigid pitchfork, you need to apply some pressure in order that it glides through paper, that is not the case with the man 100, the laureat or my waterman first generation expert. The pen ergonomics are very poor and the rhodium plated nib is very bland. The sale price of +600€ is absolutely not justified.

Another pen that is ugly as it gets is the new OMAS 360.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

The Parker 45. Just plain aesthetically wrong for me.

Now, I think this is one of the most beautiful pens ever made but then someone once said ´one mans poison is another mans medicine´.

Why would you attach a peacock feather to a perfectly-nice industrial-looking pen like that? Agh.

Well, it's a nice feather and peacock is fascinating bird, isn't it...

Lamy 2000. Even a Waterman Sérénité is less ugly. At least it (the latter) looks less antiseptic.

The Lamy 2000 has absolutely no style or character.

The ugliest of all pens? That would be the P51 in grey. That's why I have only four of them. The ugliest ones have medium nibs and are in mint condition. If, by some misfortune, you happen to be the unhappy owner of such an abomination, I will, albeit reluctantly, accept to relieve you of the burden. Just send it off to me, and you'll never have the distasteful experience of waking up and seeing the monster again.

(Sorry)

More to the point, some of the pictures/links posted here are really the stuff nightmares are made of. While one person's nightmare may be another's sweet dream, I can almost believe that real evil went into some of these designs. Not even in a B+W 50's B-movie would the mad scientist write with such objects. I can't choose a winner, but now that you've opened this bit of Pandora's box, I'm actually going to keep a much more careful watch out for these special items. Thanks to all.
