Newbie's first Estie

I'm new to serious pen collecting and this forum. I recently found an Esterbrook desk pen at an antique shop. It had a defunct sack and the nib was a bit twisted. A trip to our local pen guru (Charles at Sutton Hoo jewelry and pens) and it writes like a charm. It has the 1555 Gregg's Stenographer nib. I've tried it with several papers and, believe it or not, it writes best on a steno pad! I'm anxious to find a wider nib to try in it.

Great. Any chance of pics?

Sorry, not as of yet. My project for the next few weeks is to buy a digital camera and find a site to host.

Welcome to the world of Esterbrooks Ron! Glad to hear the 1555 Gregg works well for you. I've always joked with others and called that nib the "paper shredder" as it has a tendency to do just that. You might try a 2668 medium nib if you want something wider. They are one of the most common nibs and are plentiful as well as being inexpensive.

Best-

Brian

GronK,

Regarding a host site, try www.photobucket.com. Wim was kind enough to refer me to them and it works well - plus it's FREE. HTH :)

Hi southpaw, ron,

If you email any pics to me, I'll host them too, no problem. Have plenty of space on my server.

Warm regards, Wim
