Into The Duofold

Now I don't know much about pens, but I know what I like. And I do like this Duofold. It's currently on sale and I am considering whether it's worth shelling out for it. I've asked for better pictures but for now we will have to make do with these. Googling Parker sites teaches me this might be a Duofold Lucky Curve from the 1920s, but that just seems to good to be true. Could anyone ID this with more certainty? Also: what would be a reasonable price? Many thanks!

Seller starts the bidding at 85 euros (114 dollars) but no bids have been placed for a long time - so I'm hoping she'll want to part with it for the starting bid. Will ask about button when I get the better pictures (which have already been promised).

Yup, looks to be a Big Red. Key things to check are if the push button is still there, what the feed looks like and if there are cap lip cracks. Figure on an additional $50.00 or so for restoration.

Well it arrived very quickly as it turned out, so here it is. It measures 139mm, so it is most certainly a Senior Duofold. The imprint reads 'Geo. S. Parker Fountain Pen - Toronto Canada' with the Lucky Curve banner. There is heavy brassing on the clip and ring, but I cannot discern any cracks. The push button is still there, but the sac seems (unsurprisingly) to have disappeared. I must have it repaired and will try some Dutch repairers first. The nib looks to be original, and is inscribed 'Parker Duofold Pen Canada.'

Thanks - I found a repairshop in the Netherlands but I will certainly go to fountainbel next time around.

Well it's taken a little while, but the Lucky Curve is now fully operational. The kind Mr Van Breukelen (yes that's Brooklyn) of Pen Shop Nijmegen (no affiliation) put in a new sac, and instantly returned it. When the sac acidentally came loose he repaired it again and put in a new push button. I managed to polish up the clip a bit, but really want to buy a good replacement. I've seen Junior clips for 18 dollars and I'd be very happy with a good suggestion for an appropriate Senior clip.

 

The pen writes very well, lays down a lush wet line - yet appears to be a tiny bit scratchy.

You can easily have clip and cap band replated. It is very inexpensive.
