If you can send/link me a list of those inks that would be great, then I can add these to the contribute form and people can submit ink reviews for them.

I've asked fellow member Mesu to send you a link for the Indian inks. For the Hero though, there have been several reviews here on FPN. I did a quick google search and found this one; hopefully this will help you locate more?

If I may ask, where did you get the data for it?

Asked people for permission on multiple communities and blogs and collected them manually from the ink reviews/swabs of those.

This was a pretty great request where I felt it would add tremendous value. I've also replaced the paging buttons with something smaller and added page numbers so you can jump to any page instantly.

You might currently experience an intermediate outage while the whole page transfers to a cdn provisioning. Afterwards it should be faster for everybody outside of germany because it's now distributed worldwide. Should take only a few hours (up to 24hours in rare cases).

Everything is completely up again and should be a lot faster now around the world. I've also added a lot of light resistance data the last two days :)

And I've got the first few ink reviews via the form already.

Much better, thanks! The only thing still missing for me is an ability to change the font. My display is such that the header font is slightly too large to fit nicely, and I'd want it both smaller and bolded. But it's an excellent job, and I'm very happy with it. In fact I will add it to my startup pages.

It's far from final. I'm also pondering with the idea of a settings page where you can customize the page a bit. Like switching to a darker color scheme or something like that.

Ok so after implementing some ideas I got from Wikipedia the color comparison is now a bit better and the similar inks are quite close now, even on browns and blacks. Those have been a problem earlier as color hues vary wildly in dark colors without the color beeing far off each other from an optical perspective.

Beautiful job. The database is easy to use and I especially like the comparison to other inks of similar color.

Data collection is tedious... but Im up to 990 inks now with over 1500 collected Data Samples (InkReviews, Spreadsheets, whatever). :)

 

So while I now cover a lot of inks (I think I got most of the stuff easily available in US/EU) the data on the inks itself if pretty thin still, most Ink Reviews don't cover much of the data I'm collecting and I haven't got much inks myself (yet).

 

So I'll remind everyone here again: If you got an InkReview that you want to share or give a global permission for your InkReviews then this already helps a lot. I'm open for InkSample Donations/Trades too - shoot me a PM for a List of Inks I can offer for a trade.

 

I'm still looking for feedback too. Especially on the data submission form as that sees fewer usage than hoped. Anything that would make it easier to use or any other suggestions are highly appreciated.

Wow, just saw this and I am really impressed. What a wonderful db you've put together. Will see if I have anything to contribute. Maybe I missed this, but is there a place that mentions the paper? If not, how about on the details page, doesn't have to be really complicated, maybe just budget, copier, premium.

No the idea is to include the paper quality into the grade somewhat and on average an ink that behaves well on cheap and good paper will have a better rating than an ink that only behaves well on good paper. So it should average out with enough data in there. The data for those inks that got 4-5 data points associated is very accurate so I'm pretty confident that the averages will be a good comparison point.

 

But I will publish the single ratings as sort of a graph later on, not much to see currently on most inks so it's nothing I'm prioritizing currently.
