Fpn Inks: Are We Lost?

Recommended Posts

I contacted him a couple of months ago and he told me no-one has ordered it, so he hasn't made any. Alas.........all I want is that Galileo. *sob* ;)

I had an opportunity a few months ago, but waited to late to jump. My loss.

I feel your pain. My hubs woke me up this morning to inform me our cat knocked over a bottle of ink. I am heartbroken; it was my precious Galileo. That's why I'm posting...mourning the Galileo taken before its time.

I adore the customs inks but I was getting deep into a writing project, and with Galileo in my Estie desk set, things were clicking.

And now I am bereft.

My husband went to throw away the empty bottle and I think I screamed STOP! THAT'S AN FPN LIMITED RUN CUSTOM COLOR

I miss it already. The glass didn't break. It's those brittle plastic caps. They stink.

I'll try to mix something comparable but I'm not terrific at that. That's why i saved the empty bottle, so I could try matching the one drop left...

I bought two bottles of Noodler's FPN Starry Night Blue a while back. Still have one unopened & would be willing to part with it...

How much with CONUS shipping?

I too would buy some of the FPN ink as I joined here after everything was gone. So I always keep an eye on if it's been revived or not.

Especially that Starry Night....

After trying to get Nathan to produce a run (with no luck), I went to Brian and Rachel Goulet over at Goulet Pens, hoping maybe they have had some people asking for it.

I found in my research there have been several nice Noodlers inks that have gone 'bye-bye' due to one reason or another, usually at point-of-sale.

So far I've not had any luck, but hopefully with enough public demand Nathan will start making it again.

The 3 FPN special Noodlers inks are limited to FPN only, so you won't find these elsewhere. But at the moment the sale of these inks is not working, AFAIK because of administrative problems and continuation problems.

I would suspect that because the FPN exclusive Noodlers will no longer be produced, our Admin Team might be looking at other sources for a replacement. If it comes to a vote, I'm putting one in for the Susemai powdered ink currently being tested by 50 FPN members all over the world. Powdered ink is not a novel idea, and with the new technoledgy, ease of shipping and lower cost, it's worth a try. I'm also impressed by the iron gall inks being made by Polish member KWZI. Production from him might be a while into the future, though. Has anybody thought about approaching Sailor? They seem to make exclusive inks for every pen shop in Japan. FWIW & IMHO. :)

Just remember, it is unlawful in the states to beat your husband and get caught.

It seems like FPN inks were a large logistical headache back when they were one of the only sources of income for the board. At that time, there were a few small items like FPN notepads and inks for sale and not really any other way to for the board to make money. Also back then, the "sales" aspect of the board was continually downplayed as a pesky add-on but not the raison d'être.

Now, with profits being derived from splitting out different classes of members and heavily regulating the sales portion of FPN, is there really a need or a drive to sell LE FPN ink? It is a time intensive and cumbersome way to raise a couple of dollars when it is all done. Certainly, in the past couple of years there has been a lot of niche inks offered on FPN, which while not exclusive to FPN are certainly difficult to find or even know about without following FPN.

So, I'd question whether either FPN members or FPN owners require or desire a new custom ink only available through this boards retail center.

OH, for a minute there, I thought you were saying that FPNers didn't "NEED" any LE, FPN - hard to acquire - cumbersome to get shipped to them ink.

If we could OUT take the "hard to acquire - cumbersome to get shipped..." part.

I do love the Van Gogh Starry Night

So, just in case you all were wondering, we are trying to put together another FPN exclusive ink. At a minimum, we will have a group buy of the KWZI ink.

I would love to see a FPN exclusive ink by Diamine! Maybe even a set. :D

Good idea! We can even help them with their names: Obsession, Compulsion, Incorrigible, Point of no return, Hopeless, Certifiable...

You lot are usually fairly positive and easy going - why not Yummy Yellow, Optimistic Orange, Positive Purple....

It sounds as though I missed some great "ink Opps" I've only been on FPN for about four months. I would have loved to been able to get in on a buy of special FPN inks. Not only does it show affiliation with a community that I am proud to belong to but it also provides it's members with some definite perks; it's own ink.
