Pilot Prera

I believe that the Prera, the 78G, the Knight, and the Penmanship share the same steel nib. Unlike the others, the nib of the Pilot 78G is gold-plated. Otherwise, having written with those four and moved nibs around on some of them, I see little substantial difference among them. There's more difference within models--e.g., some of the F nibs on my 78Gs are better than others.

I remember reading somewhere that the Prera nib is the same as the 78G nib. Is that true? If so, can folks compare the differences in feel/performance between the two shapes/sizes?

Thanks -- and HELLO TO SAMOVAR!! :0)

Yeah, I have a couple 78Gs with F nibs, and they all seem to put down different sized lines. I mean, one writes more like a XF (or I guess converted to Western standards, more like a XXF), while another writes almost as wide as a Pilot M nib. I really only use one of them because the others just have such varying levels of quality, both in terms of line width and just some have too much tooth to them.

I just got the brown Prera yesterday. JetPens said it would arrive in 3-7 days and it was here in 3(yay!). So far I'm really liking it. It may be my new favorite pen. I wish that I had bought one earlier.

The brown almost looks black. If you hold it up to a light, you can definitely see the brown color. I was a little surprised at how small the pen is, but that isn't a problem. I like to carry pens in my shirt pockets, and it fits better than most others which either stick out too far or have to go in slanted. The Prera balances well with the cap posted which makes it long enough to hold comfortably. All of my other capped pens feel unbalanced with the cap posted.

I think that I've finally found the carry around, doodling pen that I've been looking for.
