Why have just one grail? I have many ... ;)

- Pelikan 450

- Omas Arco in both bronze and green

- Cross 150th in either gold or silver (or both!)

My Grail pen changes. I will have the desire, later get THE pen and then another Grail pen ltakes it's place in my longing.

It's definitely not my holy grail but right now I'm craving a Pilot Capless Decimo soooo much, if only I had the 170 right now I would buy it in a second.

as far Holy Grails go

I think one of the Montblanc writers edition might be it

either

Marcel Proust

Franz Kafka

or

Charles Dickens

... all three or better yet entire set!!!!

I'm not even sure how much these cost but I'm sure it's better that I don't know at this point of my life.

*This will likely change seeing as I'm just starting to get into the finer Fountain pens.

I'm at the tip of the iceberg!!

Currently I would want nothing more than a 1983 Mont Blanc 149. Since it the year that I was born it has a special meaning to me. I wish I could afford one, but it wouldn't be much of a holy grail if i could though!

Like other people I can't think of just one and my ideas change, since there are several I'd love to own.

Narrowing it down to just the two I'd like right now, they'd probably be one of the following:

I've been wanting a Parker Sonnet Cisele Sterling Silver Fine nib for too many years now, just can't justify the price even when I had the cash flow.

The prices continue to vary, anywhere from a full $295+ down to just under $200 and right now I can't afford one at any price, can barely afford ink and paper.

Another I'd love to have some day is a Pelikan Souverän M800 Demonstrator, "marked", with an EF or maybe an OM nib since I've never had an Oblique nib pen.

If Pelikan made a [and maybe they do and I've just never seen one?] M1000 Demonstrator then that would be my idea of the so-called "Grail" pen.

I've read the M1000 series is one of if not the largest FPs Pelikan makes [?], perfect for me if true since I lean more toward larger pens for my big hands.

OK, then there's the Sterling Sailor 1911 I'd love to own, or the same 1911 but in the Demonstrator, or if going big maybe the Sailor KoP?

Too many choices and not enough cash flow, but those would be on the top of my current list.

Not quite feasible: Pelikan 75th Anniversary.

OK, my list just changed and got longer after seeing that pen.

Gorgeous, simply beautiful.

Ouch, I really like it, just can't come near to justifying that price.

I know, I know... the price is ridiculous, isn't it Inka? But it is an incredible pen. Wow.

There are two very much top of mind...

- Conway Stewart 100 (F)

- Stipula Etruria Amber (F); although a Fisole would very much meet grail status.

What is that pen that you are constantly searching for, and when you have found it, personal circumstances keep you from buying it at the moment, but you still keep yearning for it?

Mine is the Conway Stewart Churchill in bracket brown resin. At 500 US Dollars, it definitely is the stuff of dreams, as it will remain just a dream.

My holy grail is the Monstblanc 149 in solid gold. My next holy grail is the Waterman Exception in solid gold. I know that, unless I win the lottery I will never own either one. :crybaby:

I found mine! A Lamy 99 true demonstrator:

I guess I need a new one... I'd say a celluloid 149 or 139, but those are too common. Maybe a tiger eye 149, vintage Arco OS Omas, Nozac demonstrator, lapis Artus/Orthos Senior, or OS Onoto Magna!

I'd like to take this as not the usual pen that you can find if you look hard enough for it, but something really elusive.

For me it would be a silver stripe Pilot MYU. Not even Russ Stutler of Pilot MYU/Murex fame owns one. There are very few publicly acknowledged owners, with one being some fellow named Martin Smith who asked for his location to be kept private (lol), and our resident member Haywoody who has the glorious disposition of having the Capless version as well!

http://www.stutler.cc/pens/murex/images/white_striped.jpg

I had talked with Russ about the possibility of some stripping method to turn a black-stripe MYU into a white-stripe one, but apparently the black is "acid etched" into the pen--there's no way to do it without damaging the surface. There is no information as to how many were made, but given the lack of visibility to Pilot collectors in Japan, it has to be a very low number. Finding one is almost like hitting the lottery.

So, a more realistic "Holy Grail" pen for me would be a silver stripe Pilot Custom. They're difficult to find, but not nearly as rare as the MYU. :)

Pilot imports a version of this pen called the M90 in plain stainless steel it is a limited edition and sell for $190.00. I got one today.

Pelikan Souveran 800. Haven't quite decided on the colour, but then I have a lifetime to make my mind up.

I've changed my mind recently and opted for the Conway Stewart Knightsbridge as my new grail pen. I actually might be able to swing it if I save long enough.

Mine would be a black Visconti Divina FP :notworthy1: :puddle:

However, as much as I want one I cannot rationalise the cost in my head. One day i'll have the money.................maybe.

Lots of wants, limited funds!

My holy grail hasn't come out yet! I like a lot of pens but there isn't one really grail-like as yet.

I have two Perchins which I adore, the Imperial and the Faberge Coronation Gold. Fabulous pens. I also have the CS Evolution, which is my idea of what a sterling silver pen should be all about - heavy, visually impressive and masculine.

I guess these are the closest to a 'grail' pen, and I'm seriously considering buying a Montblanc Oppenheim, which would be another grail candidate.
