What pen is your Holy Grail?

My holy grail pen is the Parker 95 Flighter just because it was introduced in my birth year and I think it looks cool. Of course, I will probably never find one but I can try looking. After all, you never know what you will find if you just look.

It was introduced in my birth year too :) I think that's one of many good reasons to have something as your grail pen.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, someday I'll buy myself this pen:

Here's my other, severely less-affordable grail pen:

Being fairly new to the game, may I ask exactly what those two pens are? The first is the perfect shape for my tastes.

Until yesterday, I was intent on a brushed-steel flighter that I haven't seen made yet (outwardly identical to a Stainless Steel Sharpie), then I saw this:

Hey Mike -

There are a few threads on the Graphyscaph - usually titled "World's Ugliest Pen," or something like that.

There are a few fans, like you who chime in too.

I can do without most of Mr. Lepine's creations, but he did make a sleek pen with a cool external filling mechanism called the Cybergraph - I like pictures of that pen a lot; I've just never seen one in person.

Of course. The first is a Nakaya Portable Writer in Heki-tamenuri (brown-green) with a rhodium nib and clip. I think, with all the options I want, the cost would be somewhere around $600. Check out Nibs.com or Nayaka.org for some more pictures and information. They talk about Nakayas a lot in the Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun section of the forum.

The second is a limited edition Pelikan, The Spirit of Gaudi. I think the retail on that one is $2,000, but it sure does look cool.

Ok, after reading this thread, I'm now in even more danger of bankrupting myself. Thanks a whole bunch people :headsmack:. I had never looked at Edison pens before and I had never even heard of the Pilot MYU, so that's pretty awesome. After revising my wishlist based on this thread, I would say that the pens I would get most excited to have would be:

1. Pilot MYU 701 (M)

2. Parker 75 Cisele (F or M)

3. Edison Pearl in Red Black Ebonite with Rhodium trim (Cursive Italic 0.9mm)

4. OMAS Paragon Old Style in Venis Blue or Grey Hi-Tech (Cursive Italic 0.7mm)

Currently inked pens:

  • Pelikan M205 Amethyst [F] (Noodler's Manhattan Blue)
  • Shaeffer PFM II Blue (Private Reserve Naples Blue)
  • Lamy 2000 [binder Italifine 0.7/0.5] (J. Herbin Vert Empire)
  • Waterman Ideal N° 01855 (Noodler's Walnut)
  • Pilot Vanishing Point Mustard [binder Stub Italic 0.6] (Noodler's Walnut)

  • 2 weeks later...

I would say either the Visconti Black Divina or the Visconti Black Ripple. I would prefer the black ripple which had wonderful weight when I held it in the store.

Actually, I am not sure if it's a "Grail", but it's the last pen that I lust after and don't yet have: the 2009 limited edition red Pilot VP. Cool pen - and I'll get it shortly (or so I hope). After that, I'm done....I know y'all believe me.

Get the Ripple. I have both the Black and Blue as regular writers. Blue has a stub, Black has a B nib. Sweet!

+1. My Black Ripple is my primary office desk pen. Balances well, writes well, and is just plain beautiful. My nib is a fine. I need to write, not paint. :P

My Holy Grail is a VISCONTI LE DIVINE PROPORTION FP with GOLD TRIM - Medium or Fine nib. A picture is worth a 1000 words.

I'd have to cash in my 401K to qualify for this stupendous work of art.

My (humble) grail list is this:

MB Virginia Woolf (the texture!)

Pelikan Sahara (the texture and the beautiful colour)

VP - Orange LE (that orange is a definite cheer-up factor)

MB Mozart (so tiny, so cute)
