I've been drooling over the Conid pens, specifically the Benjamin Graham Collection. It drives me up the wall because I've been trying to find out information on the pen (I've e-mailed Marc, searched through Google, everything) and there's apparently no information on the pens. There were some references to it being released back in May or June, but nothing since then. I'm still searching, however.

Hmm. Currently, either one of the tamenuri-finish Nakayas (relatively attainable - I'll probably get one within a year or so, maybe in heki since everyone gets kuro), Waterman 552 (mmm, solid gold overlay), or Namiki Yukari Nightline.

EDIT: Actually, maybe I should look at a Waterman 554 instead of the 552, since people are saying the 52s are fairly slender.

It's somewhat ironic that I found this thread. I posted to it back in '07 and mentioned that I was looking for a '50 flighter pencil to match my pen. A year later I got an e-mail from a woman who had picked up on this thread and sold me the pencil I was looking for. After a trip to Daniel Kirchheimer (who I heartily recommend) they are looking really sharp. My quest continues... as it happens, my brother gave me a couple of pencils that have been kicking around the family. My new grail is a matching Sheaffer OS ebony pearl balance circa '1939 to mate with my pencil. Jeff

Pelikan M1000 18K- $550.

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

The HRH has too many diamonds for my taste. The 618 ed. it the pinnacle of that collection for me.

On my front, the MB Black Widow 88 is still very top of the list for me in terms of grail pens.

The pen that first springs to mind is the Montblanc UNICEF Le Grand. Beautiful pen inherently, and I love what it stands for, and where (some) of the money goes from the purchase. A luxury item that I'd feel ethical about purchasing (forgetting for a moment the sort of good that all $700 could do in the hands of UNICEF).

The other one - if a mere Le Grand doesn't qualify would be the Montblanc Jules Verne writers edition. I love that pen, a beautiful instrument in and of itself, and I've always been a fan of Jules Verne's writing, so there's a second connection there as well.

If you go to the webpage, there's a contact link at the far right of the black bar at the top. I wrote to Marc inquiring about availability and price and, while he did not have the answer to either question at that time, he agreed to put me on the email contact list once they do become available.

That should probably be happening soon since I just broke down and got myself a Visconti Opera LE Demo in Amber. I think I got it for a good price, but my pen budget is still busted.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

A Mont Blanc Marcel Proust Writers Edition. Funny thing is I've owned one before and sold it to raise money to pay some pressing bills. Very stupid of me I am sure. I also have my eye on a certain Joe Cali pen.......

I have more than a few "grails" actually, and all of them are vintage or discontinued, and most of them, aside from the Parker 15 are unattainable at the moment not because of money, but because of their sheer rarity.

Pens that exist:

Sheaffer Snorkel Demonstrator

Parker 15, Corrugated Abalone/Pearl

Parker 51 Full Rolled Silver

Pelikan Raden Limited Edition, Kyokkou and Gekkou (旭光、月光)

Pilot Myu White Stripe

Parker T-1 Prototype in Steel

Pens that I'm not sure really exist, but have heard references to:

Original Sheaffer Snorkel in full Sterling Silver

Original Sheaffer Snorkel in full Steel, lined and unlined versions

Eversharp Coronet in White Metal (Rhodium Plate?)

I think there are a few more, but I cant think of them at the moment.

Only four more to go...two of which are at this time readily available....two have or about to go the way of the Dodo bird...won't stipulate on one yet as there may only be about a dozen in the wild. The other...we just have to wait until one comes available...but soon!

As for grail???

- Aurora Optima Green - Stub nib

- Pelikan M800 red/blk

- Parker 51 Cedar circa 40's CLEAN with a lusty cap- tough one.......will have to wait it out

- I'll never tell until I capture it- This is THE ONE....PLACE IN MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!

Not so much a holy grail, but the pen I really want is a MB Poe. The grail is coming up with the money.
