Does washing ink out of paper to reuse the paper count?

I think so.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

An Dregs sounds perfect for all the samples that are absolutely hideous when fist used. Oh but they looked so good on the splotch sheet! What could have changed before it got to my pen? Boy have have some stinkers that are going right into the Dregs bottle. WHAT A GREAT IDEA. THANKS A MILLION FOR THAT ONE.

Hi,

Not to rain on the parade, but using a 'dregggs bottle' introduces the risk of an unsafe result as different inks are added over time.

Please always inspect the ink before charging a pen.

I use a bottle for failed recipes, where the hue/value is off, but the blend is 'safe'. Such odd ink is often used for outbound bumph & ephemera, though I like to think eventually I'll have a happy accident, and the combined heeltaps will yield something (hopefully ink) that is interesting. Blonde optimism or what?

Bye,

Good point S1, my rejects bottle has extra phenol. Also, for the actual dregs (stuff I flush), I just paint with that stuff, it never goes back in the pen.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I just want to warn the uninitiated about two of the chemicals mentioned in this thread. Phenol is corrosive to skin: gloves and great care are recommended if you do try it as a preservative. It is quite toxic is swallowed. Sodium azide is a wonderful preservative, widely used in biology and biochemistry, BUT it is about as toxic as sodium cyanide. I would not use it in my inks and certainly wouldn't have it around my house!

As a non chemist - lawyer, I would absolutely say read the directions. I can say that the phenol I have is diluted and safe for use according to the manufacturer.

Thank you for the caution, and more so for sending me to the dictionary for three great new words: bumph, ephemera, heeltaps

Sodium azide is a wonderful preservative, widely used in biology and biochemistry, BUT it is about as toxic as sodium cyanide. I first asked my father that is a chemist and responsible for one of the largest labratories in my city if he could help me add some phenole and he said that they have phenol but rarely use it at all and sugested sodium azide insted. But he dident want to bring it home or give me some so he asked me to come to the labratory with the ink and at the labrstory we added 0.5ml of a 10% solution to a 70ml bottle.

He also comented that "this is not for consumption so I don't have to put a warning on it".

I personaly wouldent handle any of them in a higher consentrations.

You warning are absolutly valid if my father had deemed sodium azide safe it would be nice to have some at home for future use but if he don't even want to bring it to his home I am happy as long as I don't have to tuche it.

I consider myself blond. I was when I was very much so when I was younger, but my hair has darkened a I have aged, it has darkened so much many would say it is brown. I think it is a dark blond.

Most of my experiments are to answer questions that I could not find existing information or answers to on the forum. For the sake of this list I am considering most mixing to not be an experiment. Hopefully I did not forget anything.
