Incredible! What a huge mitzvah you've done!

I'm looking at Blue #6 now. Still loves me the Blue #3. Also - a couple from the brown/red/orange family have caught my eye. Thanks so much!

What is your favorite?

Can't be anything but a blue. Since #13 is the only "low maintenance" one, and it's not teal or too light, it's the instant favorite. :P

So far #4 is my favorite. What is your favorite?

In numerical order...

#06 - Blue Teal

#11 - Blue Turquoise

#23 - IG Dark Blue

#27 - IG Turquoise

#28 - IG Red

#36 - Menthol Green

#42 - Rotten Green

#46 - Orange

... and that is for starters...

So far #4 is my favorite. What is your favorite?

I'll preface my short list by calling these my favorites so far. I'm still reading the other reviews, because while I've now sampled all of them, the methods I used--dipping a Platinum Preppy--is not a complete review. For instance, this setup rules out almost any possibility to see shading or sheen. So if others start to see those traits it may change my short list.

#46 Orange - Because lately I've had a thing for orange.

#41 Green #3 -

#36 Menthol Green - Very cooling

Blues - There are several blues I like, but it's hard for me to parse which one is my favorite. I'm hoping someone uncovers some sheen on one of these.

#42 Rotten Green - I love the name, and I've not come across any other ink that shoots for this shade of green

IG Inks - These are way more fun to write with--watching the colors darken as they dry--but after they dry....meh.

Heathen!!!... :roller1:

Certainly not the first time I've been called that. Although probably the first time regarding pens and inks. :bunny01:

Great work, thank you for your efforts!

One question: in your color chart Blue #3 appears brighter than #4, while in photos #3 is definitely darker. Which would be more correct according to your experience?

That's a difficult question to answer. In part, the inks behaved slightly differently on different papers. Some of that may be using the scanner vs the camera. To my eye, they are both about the same level of darkness, but the #3 is a very true blue while #4 leans purple.

Amber already has a topic comparing these 2 inks.

Having seen them in person on Amber's sheets, I would say that #3 is teal and #4 is purple.

How would you compare #3 with Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo, if you've tried the latter? Which one would look more teal?

EDIT Comparing to Asa-gao, as in your note in Amberlea's thread, #3 and #4 clearly position towards teal (or turquoise) and purple but, unfortunately, I don't have personal experience with Asa-gao.

OK let me reformulate: #3 is a blue that slightly errs toward teal, while #4 is a blue that slightly errs toward purple. They're not a strong teal or purple respectively.

I don't have Tsuki-yo but from all pics I've seen that is a pretty strong teal.

Asa Gao is actually slightly purplish and will show this on very white high quality paper. On more common yellower paper, the amount of purple is just enough to counterbalance the paper's yellowness and in the end it looks "right". Perfect for someone who doesn't like teal, as no matter the paper, you're still not teal, but not excessively purple either. OTOH if you can't tolerate purplish blues, you don't need to use an ink with excess teal, as the paper can be ivory-cream-white but never purplish.

P.S. I still have on my table Amber's sheet 790 showing both #3 and #4. I haven't filled it yet as I was waiting for 2 more blue inks to show up in the mail. If you're strongly interested by #3 and #4, PM me your address, and I'll snail-mail it to you once I fill it in. After inspection you will have to re-mail it to Amber or me.

Thanks for the details. It looks like these #3 and #4 are worth a try.

I appreciate the offer about the writing sample, but I'm going to travel to Europe next week and it's going to be a long one. Will try to communicate with Konrad from there.

Since I have both of these inks, I'll try to put a sample of both side-by-each later today. Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo looks more teal.

Thank you for the tour de force ink review. Big fan of the darker greens...and #42 Rotten Green would be my starter

So, where do I sign up for a bottle?.
