Daily Carry: Which Ones And How Many?

Just wondering what people have as their daily carry - and how many pens are in that rotation?

 

Right now, I seem to carry almost everything with me. Two Pilot Preras (M and F), a VP, a capless Decimo, and a Monteverde (OK, not Japanese) with a narrow stub done by Tyler Dahl.

I have a 3 pen leather pocket case. Two Fp's & one pencil.

I have a nice leather two-pens-and-your-glasses pocket case so I almost always carry two pens. Then I have from 2 to 15 additional pens inked and ready to use at my desk. Rarely as many as 15, six is a more usual number. As to how many pens are in the rotation, that's a good question. I have about 400 pens. Some I don't like writing with and a lot are duplicates that I'll probably never get around to using. So figure perhaps 200 to 250 in the actual rotation.

 

I know that begs the question as to why I have pens that I don't like. The DC show is coming up and I'm taking 11 pens to be repaired because I'm pretty sure I'll like them after they're fixed. And another two dozen I'm hoping to sell there. Then there are a whole bunch that are really interesting pens and fun to show and talk about, but not to write with. I really don't want to part with those. My Parafernalia Revolution is a good example. See the last photo at the bottom of the post.

 

Today the two pocket pens are:

Pilot Custom 823, .7mm cursive italic, Pilot Blue ink (This pen has been a pocket pen continuously since 2010.)

Conway Stewart CS100, italic fine nib, Sheaffer Skrip Washable Purple

I only have two pens, a Pilot Metropolitan (fine) and a Platinum Preppy (also fine, or 03, as the barrel says). The Metro is attached to my journal/planner with a pen loop, so that goes with me everywhere. The Preppy stays at home. So I guess the Metro would be my EDC.

I strangely use my Parker Frontier more then any other pen and it's my permanent EDC even though I have expensive pens as well.

From left to right in the pouch they are: Platinum 3776 SF, Pilot VP Metallic Green with a XF nib unit (soon to be using a 0.9mm cursive italic ItaliFine unit, can't wait to receive that) and a Pilot Metal Falcon SEF.

My currently filled pens are always in my signature, below. It includes my two office pens, a Wality and my Delta Fusion 82, my home desk MB 149, and 2-3 carry pens, of which 2 are usually vintage and in my 2-pen case and one is my Pilot Metropolitan, the subway/shirt pocket/shorts pocket pen. Right now, it looks a little weird for me, since almost all of my pens are vintage and almost all of my modern pens are in use...one of my Parker 51's is screaming to be used and will fill the pen case vacancy tonight.

My Pilot metal Falcon soft fine is my use all the time pen. I have a Lamy safari with Diamine salamander, and a Kaweco sport with Noodlers Ottoman azure in to tempt me, but the Falcon just feels so nice, it's just the right weight for me. I have Noodlers #41 brown in it at present.

My inked ones are a vintage waterman, a vintage German, and Japanese pen.
