Man 200 Rhapsody Misconception

Left FPN

Recommended Posts

The two colours are sometimes confused both here on FPN and elsewhere. Yes, I sometimes get a bee in my bonnet but in years to come it could be of assistance to someone. After all many still get confused with the correct terms for Ripples, Wood effects and Striats.

So, there is a Caviar and there is a Blue. There is no Blue Caviar or Caviar Blue. Caviar is after all a browny/black product...not blue black.

I present the Waterman evidence.

I rest my case.

Despite my having purchased what you refer to as "Blue" in a box with an original Waterman sticker labeling it as "Blue Caviar", what about Pennibink's Nath http://pennibink.weebly.com/waterman.html (as well as other sites) which lists this pen as "Man 200 Blue caviar" and "Man 200 Caviar bleu"?

Do you have a picture or the box. The attached picture was from an ebay auction of a Blue but I cannot recall if the seller termed it Blue Caviar where you will see the numbers, 16214, match.

Ref pennibink, I have been in discussion with Nathalie and provided the above detailed documentation (in fact the complete salesmans catalogue) and she is planning to amend the site accordingly.

In addition this advert strengthens my case a little more,

Waterman Rhapsody, Rhapsody de Waterman, présenté ici couleur feu, existe aussi en caviar et en bleu...

(Waterman Rhapsody, Rhapsody of Waterman, presented here "fire" color, exists also in caviar and in blue...)

I have gave on my site common names : Grey Caviar and Blue Caviar .....  :wallbash: :notworthy1:

This has been recently rectified for the official naming: Rhapsody Caviar and Rhapsody Blue.

With the first, Rhapsody red ripple, these three Man 200 have been produced from 1989.

Am I correct that the English name is Red Ripple, and the French name Feu?

Red Ripple in English (with Capital Letter, sorry) in accordance with the Waterman catalog near 1990 (Thanks to Force) and "Feu" (fire) according to a French advertising of 1990 showed by Force below.
