The Making Of A Fountain Pen

Nearly all the pens I have belonged to my grandfather, parents and husband's parents. I'm not complaining - they are wonderful pens.

My idea in getting this pen is that when the pens go down in the family after me, there would be a beauty that had belonged to me. I thought it would be fun to have the pictures of Renee making the pen go down with the pen too.

When I showed pictures of a pen like this one to my family it was OOOh! AAAAh! like they were watching fireworks! Maybe the liking of this pen is hereditary!

Respectfully I have to state that I don't need temptation of this calibre - I foresee a "Balladeer in Jurassic Amber" in my future.

OK, I just took a peek at the aforementioned "Balladeer in Jurassic Amber". What a knock out pen.

It has become translucent... I had not expected this result from the blanks...

Nice

Almost done!

Can you post a video of you writing with that pen when you are done please?

The big news is Renee of Scriptorium is finished with the pen. She's sent it to Pendleton for him to modify the nib. He has it NOW!

When he's done he'll mail it to me. Here are the last two photos of the pen in progress.

Now for a clip and nib

Many thanks to Renee for taking these photos as she worked. The next picture I post will be a picture I take of the pen myself!

Renée: job well done.

Green ink: I'm green with envy.... :)

I hope Pendleton does not have too much of a backlog... Does he do pictures of the modifying process as well?

  • 2 weeks later...

The Scriptorium Muse crafted by Renee Meeks arrived on my front porch yesterday. I like the idea of having a hand made pen. This is a beauty. It feels good in my hand and is quite comfortable to write with.

Its nib was modified by Pendleton Brown. It makes my commonplace handwriting look far more clever. Couldn't be happier. Here it is!

With a bit of Pendleton's handwriting:
