Fp Spot On Uk Tv (Question Time)

Was watching Question Time (A political Debate show in the UK) and I noticed a Fountain Pen Spot

It is Peter Hitchens, brother of the fantastic Christopher Hitchens (RIP)

The pic doesnt make it too obvious, but he had a black nib on a red Safari. As far as I know the red Safari doesn't come with a black nib, which means he ordered the extra nib.

I can't stand the man's politics or the rag he writes for, but thought people might want to see the spot.

Looks like a rollerball to me. Either way, the position of the pen with respect to his nose looks very... unfortunate.

Are you sure it's not a rollerball...?

No it was the fountain pen.

It had other views where you can clearly see the nib, but he was obscuring the cap, so I wanted a pic showing most of the pen.

Well Spotted! I watched the programme and didn't notice it. Probably half asleep!

Edited to add - I've just quickly whizzed through the programme on BBC iplayer, and it is definitely a fountain pen nib. However, I'm not convinced it's a black nib, as you can see light glinting off it in some scenes. It is filled with black ink though, as he manages to get some on his hand.

I don't blame him for taking his own pen, and not using those horrible cheapo BPs that are supplied to the panellists!

Red Lamy Safari fountain pen with "correct" steel nib. Captured at 19m14s. Sorry for the poor quality but I couldn't get a higher def download.

I missed QT last night. Probably a Good Thing as with people like him on I would only end up shouting at the telly.

Ah, well, there ya go; freeze frame at a certain moment and you can erroneously think a bloke's excavating his nostril with a rollerball on national television. Now I see my mistake.
