Changing Nibs On Guider Pens?

I got some Guider Jumbos and a Super Jumbo. I love the pens but the nibs not so much... I would love to replace the nibs with some higher quality nibs (e.g. JoWo, Bock etc). I tried with a JoWo #6 from Goulet Pens but the nib seems too wide for the feed. Any ideas?

I tried several nibs on mine and this one worked really well, it's from a vintage Wearever Pacemaker.

I used the Guider feed. It works flawlessly. You need to find a nib that has a less contoured shape so it will work with the larger diameter Guider feed. Good luck!

If you can get a Sheaffer No Nonsense feed it will be better functionally and fit nicely. There are many threads that discuss the feed issues with the Indian Eyedroppers. As long as there is a seal in the section you are good even with the original feed.

The Guider Jumbo will take #5 nib.

Please post the picture of feed. Actually, the feed size is not consistent with Guider pens.

In my experience, Guider pens use relatively small nibs and feeds, contrasting with the size of the pen. I have just swapped the nibs on my Guider Acrylic and Guider Ebonite (both from FPR) for vintage WW2 German nibs (supplied by Lexaf when I bought two of his piston fillers) and they fit perfectly; but these are narrow nibs and they fit the small diameter feed of the Guiders.

I might be able to suggest some alternative nibs, but I am not aware of the nibs that Guider uses nowadays.

Pls share the following dimensions

  • Nib length from tip to heel
  • Nib width across the shoulders
  • The diameter of the feeder.

Ok. The feeder should be 6.35mm plus minus 0.1mm

These are the dimensions of the Indian "no 8" nib.

The western no 6 nib that you mention should measure not more than 9mm across the shoulders, so the difference is not that much. It is the shape that makes the western no 6 nib look very large in comparison.

You should be able to accommodate that nib into this pen, personally i would grind away 7mm off the tail of the replacement nib, but some others have reported success even without resorting to tail cutting. :)

I'll take your word for it, I do not have the ability to measure fractions of a mm! I will try to use a Goulet nib and I will report what happens!

I'm now trying my Guider Raja with a two-tone #6 Bulow nib. It just about fit - it's a little too long for the cap to close all the way, but except for that, it's a good fit. I like the pen better this way - the original nib looked very small on such a big pen.
