Lamy Persona Feed

Hello,

Has anyone removed the feed/nib or just the nib from a Lamy Persona?

The reason I ask is that I have three of them with three different nib sizes and I want to pare down my collection. However, the one I want to sell has the nib size I want to keep (pen is in poorer condition but nib is perfect). I'd like to transfer this nib to another pen that I want to keep due to the pen's colour and condition. Does anyone know if this is possible? I haven't tried to pull the feed for fear of wrecking something.

TIA,

Steve

I've not pulled my nib, but have an understanding the nib comes off easy. There is no reason to pull the feed.

I believe the nib fit is similar to a Safari, which is easy to take off.

The Persona is wrapped around more.

There might be a thread on pulling the nib of a Persona. In I only had one, I had no reason to remember it.

Mine is an early black titanium...pre'bump in the clip one. It had a 18K OB that did nothing in it was a nail. Pendelton Brown turned it into a CI for me. It went from box to always out.

Do not put it with other pens, it like a Townsend is rough on other pens.

You do not need to pull out the entire feed assembly. To remove the nib alone, simply grab a piece of Scotch tape and wrap a piece around the nib. Gently pull the nib from the feed, careful not to misalign the tines, Keep the piece of tape on the nib to make it easier to secure the nib on the other pen's feed.

DreamInk, the nibs on the Persona is considerably different than other removable Lamy nibs. It is circular and runs 7/8 the way around the feed. There is a small bump where the two ends of the nib come together that prevents it from sliding off the feed. To me, it looks like it could be pried open and slid off or the nib and feed could (theoretically) be pulled out as one. I just don't know if they can be pulled out or not and am too afraid to do it for fear of destroying something.

I have 2 silver titanium Personas - one with an early 18k without a bump on the clip F nib. Nib is superbly smooth and straight. Rest of the pen is a bit banged up. I bought it for a song. It is a bit of a nail. The other is a 14k B nib. Also beautiful and the nib is quite springy.

I also have a black titanium oxide one with a 18k M nib but it has a bump on the clip. The nib is considerably softer and springier than my 18k silver one. Until I bought it, I was under the impression that the earliest ones had nail-like 18k nibs and no bump. Having bought mine used, I don't know if the cap isn't original to the rest of the pen or what the story is on it. Having said this, the nib feels more like the 14k nibs of later Personas. The pen body is in great shape but the nib is a bit scratchy, scratched, and it looks like it has been bent and poorly straightened.

I'd like to swap the F nib for the M nib if this is possible and sell the poor condition silver pen with the poor condition M nib for some comparatively low sum of money. If it isn't possible, I will send the black pen off to a nibmeister to be straightened, smoothed, etc and be content with this. I like the looks of the black pen best but, as Bo Bo Olson says, it doesn't play well with others. I learned this the hard and painful way when is completely defaced the polished clip on my Lamy Unic. That was a sad day.

I also have a black resin Persona but I don't really use it - too light!

If anyone else has any insights, I am all ears.

Despite the fact that the wrap-around construction of the Lamy Persona nib is a bit different compared to the other removable Lamy nibs, the method of removing them is still the same. I also have a titanium Persona and Makrolon Persona and have personally exchanged the nibs on both with spare nibs purchased directly from Lamy.

Dreamlink, thanks. I will give it a try. Sorry for my misunderstanding. To be honest, I have found that most Lamy owners do know the Persona other than seeing one. My apologies and thanks again for the tip!
