Amber:

The Akkerman bottles might have the name of the glassmakers on the bottom.

Or it might be worth the trouble to ask Akkerman if you could get that information they might be nice enough to tell who makes them or sell a number of empty bottles.

I"m pretty sure they won't be revealing that trade secret. The bottom has information about the Akkerman's and VulPenn and is marked Since 1910.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

What about octagonal then?

http://www.foresta.net/images/products/OTTAGONALE%2040%20%2014%20x.jpgThat’s a pretty cool bottle . Is the volume a bit more than 55ml. I was thinking maybe 80 ml would be a target. (Noodlers size)

The cap is the same as the big Diamine.

I quite like these - the closure looks pretty reliable, and the volume is 100 ml.

Not sure how practical the opening is for filling, as most of the ink would be quite a long way away, but the inner diameter looks about 2 cm to me.

What are the design requirements?

1. Clear glass to see ink color?

2. Easy viewing of amount of ink?

3. Narrow 'well' in actual glass OR sub container or other cleverness for that last drop? (like Akkerman or Levenger)

4. Other functions such as pen holder? Pen horizontal or vertical?

5. Blotting paper integration like Lamy?

6. Bottle shape to enable stacking when larger numbers of bottles need storage?

7. please add your own suggestions!!

That's a great question...

I'm okay with clear or with a color.

Maybe we should create a google form and put these items on a rating scale.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Let's do that. Do you know how?

It's actually pretty easy. I have to wait until ater because I have people coming in, but you go to your google account. Follow the templates. It will take you about 15 minutes.

Great!!! I know people in the artisanal glass industry if that is useful for prototyping etc.
Assuming again before the votes come in that glass is the preferred material.

Are you talking about?

I like ref IN-0007-01

the IN-0018-01 looks like the Diamine bottle.

I think that a Nalgene wide spill proof bottle would be much cheaper and because it is plastic, not prone to breakage on transport.

I mention the brand by name because I have experienced their durability.

Those who like glass bottles, could buy any of the bottles shown above to store the FPN ink, then use the plastic bottle for samples or as a travelling inkwell.

Some people are very interested in the bottle, others, not so much.

I buy ink for the color, not the bottle.

Was there ever a decision on this?

Probably never, there is to much personal preferences on it.

I think Nalgene bottle would hardly pass as exclusive nor plastic. Some cases bottle can matter a lot, or personal tastes.

Well, the FPN exclusive inks are still being made by Noodler's and are in their bottles. We love our FPN inks. Should we ever include another ink maker, we will have a decision about a different bottle.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The triangular diamine 150 anniversary bottle looks really nice, just received one and they make a nice circular group of 8, just right for sitting onto a lazy susan.
