Diamine Pumpkin - Fading Results In Nice Shading

Andrew-

Recommended Posts

Diamine Pumpkin is my 'mark-up' ink at work.

Having made some comments/corrections in the margin of a drawing four weeks ago, I was surprised to see it had faded and turned into the attached.

Although left in the open it wasn't in direct sunlight.

For contrast/comparison, the I wrote the last line of text in the third image today before I took the photograph.

So, no real point as such; I am posting this for interest though in a way it might be nice if it shaded like this straight out of the pen.

Incidentally, this was written with a TWSBI 580 medium nib; I get great flow for this ink in this pen and no gunge deposits around the nib.

A very different story with my Lamy Safari however which got a thick coating of orange gunge within a day or so of filling!

How long was it in the sun?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Interesting!

Pumpkin looks great as is, but that shading reminds me of Apache sunset which is even better :)

If I remember correctly Amber.. in your fade tests, oranges and yellows are the first ones to go...

Sad. It's such a great color. I ordered a sample of it a couple of days ago.

Does anyone know of any oranges that don't fade?

I didn't have them on 2012 fade test and the 2013 test is still up and at 'em....

I think the Swisher Apricot was a star. I used it as the base for my daily orange mix and it never faded. The other inks were Blue Ghost and Levenger Cardinal Red (Cardinal Red is a fast fader) but the mix was awesome.

The only two Swishers I had up both did great -- Swishmix Burgundy and Djinn of the Eternal Flame (which is listed as Garden of the Eternal Flame).

Amber! Oh, wow! Would you recommend some favorite inks of yours that have good longevity?

I'm just getting started with fountain pens. I have 5 (wait while I go count them.... yes, five) bottles of ink.

Thanks for posting this. It does show an interesting and attractive result.

I wonder about the 5th list item though:

5. "In a list only the last item had a period; do not use ';'.

Is that self-referential to the list itself? (Ever item in the list ends with a period.) Yes I am being pedantic, but I am also curious. It could be that you are referencing a different kind of list.
