Dilemma: Two Pens Arrive At Once

I have been doing some reorganizing of the collection lately and have sold off a large number of underused pens to fund a small number of (hopefully) higher use ones. That said I have faced this problem before with lower value pens, and have yet to solve it:

 

Tomorrow two new pens arrive What do I do? I have already started to create a little space for them in pen cases and such, but do I fill one with a 'writing color' and one with an alternative color? Do I plan to write with both alternating between them from one writing project to the next? I can't see myself leaving one un-inked for any period.

 

It's a nice problem to have, what have you had arrive at the same time, and how do you deal with it?

Never came across that sort of problem: I am ambidextrous! It is only when I get more than 2 pens at the same time that things get a bit eerie.

 

Since I assume that you are not partial to a particular pen why don't you use a random number generator to choose one?

Use the first one last, and the last one first.

Can you separate them into business writing and pleasure writing? You mentioned writing projects. Make that your business writing, and ink it with serious ink. Put a color that you love, but wouldn't use for serious writing, in the other, and enjoy.

 

Another alternative - Write with one in the mornings and the other in the afternoons.

The morning, afternoon idea is a novel one.

Had this problem when I came home from the Ohio show this year, 5 new pens and already had 4 pens inked at home. I inked one and then added another of the new ones each time another pen ran out. I also did partial loads of ink so I could get to the others sooner!

Tough thing Eddie. I acquired my Optima just short of a month ago...it's the only pen I have been using! I suppose if I had two Aurora's I'd be in the same dilemma. I'm down from 13 to 7 pens with a couple more to go to my ideal of five.

My routine in this situation is to ink one, and put it into rotation. Then once that ink fill is used, put the other into rotation. That way you can eke out the pleasure of your purchases!

I'm in this situation often at the moment as I'm taking advantage of cheaper prices while I'm away from home. I've got 5 normal pens inked up and it just not make sense to ink more as new additions arrive - I need to get my rotation down to my normal 4 then swap out one at a time as I run a pen out of ink.

I see you have two options:

 

1. Affix both pens together such that each nib can reach the paper when held at a 45 degree angle. Viola... the resulting super pen resolves your issue, is a great conversation piece, and adds a special flair to your signature.

 

2. Fuse the two non-writing ends together to form the Sith ultra pen (mightier than two swords). You can twirl and write, or defend yourself in a dark alley.

 

Other than those, there are no feasible solutions to your issue.
