Left one is Neo Standard right? And its screwing circles seems to be much less??? Could you enlight me, because I am about to order a Nakaya considering the feedback coming from this thread.

Tursilmatik - yes, that´s correct. The portable uscrews with about one and a half twists. The neo standard needs three or four. I have both and I end up not taking my neo standard to work meetings, as uncapping it for quick notes is too much of a distraction.

The Neo has less screwing circles, but only one entry point - so you need to screw all turns.

Other Nakayas have more screwing circles, but four (if I remember correctly) entry points - so you don't need all circles.

Background: The first Neo ever was a design idea by a customer (later perfected by Nakaya) and there was some pattern/maki-e on it and they decided to give it just one entry point so that the pattern is always perfectly aligned. That's the reason why you need so many turns.

Greetings,

Michael

Wow, that "background" part would be quite a hard one to find, thanks a lot. If Neo Standard would get unscrewed with one turn, it would be the best pen of Nakaya I suppose, since the holding part of barrel seems so comfortable, and its length seems between Piccolo and Long; it would be the best daily pen of Nakaya, but not right now.

Just for clarification. On nibs.com they give the lengths of the pens as: capped, posted, and barrel. Is the barrel length they state including the section too? Their site says the barrel length of a Portable is 10.8mm (4.25 inches). If that includes the section it makes it only about 2mm longer than my Parson's Essential.

Can someone confirm the measurements from the end of the barrel to the front of the section (if this is not what Nibs are doing)?

I can confirm that nibs.com data for Pelikan M420, M425, M600 and M800 holds.

I have all of above pens, and I wondered the same thing with you. Yes "barrel length" means from the very end of barrel up to where nib starts to be seem, I mean yes the screwing section and holding section are included in barrel length.
