Hi, I ordered these and in 30 hours I had them. I had them sent to the nearest Staples and then picked them up yesterday. Great deal. I might get some more and like some of the posters, store them for future presents.

Wow that was fast. I'm still waiting for mine to come.

The first of my three arrived at home today (<24 hours after order), with the other two supposedly coming tomorrow. Impressive.

FWIW, these pens really came alive for me when I popped a Plumix nib in them. That is only, at most, another $8 investment, but to have a smooth stub instead of a boring old M (or F) nib on the pen really is remarkable.

Well, if you like stubs, that is. :)

I ordered mine the day this thread got started - June 18. Had it shipped to my local Staples, picked it up yesterday - June 19.

I am really impressed with this pen. I'd even be impressed at $15. Sure beats the Lamy Safari family, of which I have several. Now I know why so many of y'all have had such nice things to say about the Pilot Metropolitan all over FPN! This is a pen that can be carried easily into any business meeting without worry. Looks like business, smooth writer, just enough weight to feel comfortable. My only concern is the finish. Mine is the matt black with the 'crocodile' print. Pilot has not had much success with a matt black finish that stands up to edc without getting badly beat up -- see all the discussions of that finish with the VP.

IMHO, Pilot should make one using the glossy black Titanium Nitride finish that Fisher offers on some of the bullet pens. Looks almost like lacquer, and titanium nitride is hard as nails. Of course, the pen would no longer be priced the way it is now -- but it would be worth it! :)

I purchased my Leopard Print Metropolitan late Wednesday afternoon and received it yesterday early in the afternoon. Couldn't open it until my afternoon break (I work at home) but WOW when I did! It comes in a decent plastic case with a clear face plate, all contained in a sturdy cardboard box. The pen itself is quite lovely, IMHO, very well made, a smooth finish with a slight texture where the leopard spot band is. After a flush with water - which it probably didn't even need - and letting it dry, that evening I filled it with Private Reserve Purple Mojo and WOW again! Like Moshe ben David, I now know what all the fuss is about with the Pilot Metropolitan. Wonderfully smooth writer with slight, pleasant feedback, great flow, (yes, I know this has to do with the ink, too,) and a great feel in the hand - just the right weight for me, feels very natural in the hand.

Here are some rather poor point 'n shoot photos I took this morning that do not do it justice. My camera just can't pick up the lovely deep purple color of the pen or of the ink - they are a perfect match to my eyes.

Can't wait to try out my White Tiger with the fine nib that should be arriving later today. Oh, and I have a Pilot 78G with a stub nib coming my way, too, so I am planning to try the stub nib in one of my Metropolitans. Like JonSzanto, I like the stub nibs I have had experience with and I want to see what this does for the pen.

And I am sorry these pens are sooooo much more expensive in Australia, parnesh. Hearing about the deals we are getting must be painful. I almost want to say the price would be worth it, but...I certainly couldn't afford it - being able to buy 3 pens for the price of only one for you just doesn't seem fair!

Thats ok. The recent (well past few years really) currency appreciation here means we can get things from the us and europe at a very reasonable cost. In fact I got 2 MR at $15 each last week to give out as presents. I have one I bought earlier. At $10 each I would have bought a couple more.

While shipping individual items is costly, a package isn't too bad. So once in a while I wait and order a few things.

Seriously though I would pay $30 for the MR. It is that good...

My two $10 white Pilot Metros arrived at my local Staples yesterday, and I inked one. It seemed to take quite a bit of time for ink from the included cartridge to flow to the nib (a M that writes more like a Western Fine). The step from the section to the barrel threads bugs me a bit. It's a smooth writer though, and I kind of like the pearlescent white color. Very decent deal, all in all, and great that there's a cartridge converter included. This deal should be great for those in the ink business.

Thanks for the info. I ordered two yesterday (1 Black - 1 Silver) and they should arrive Tuesday - oddly from two different shipments. But - hey - it was free to me.

I have a Namiki Falcon (Pilot) and two Vanishing points - I am anxious to see how the nibs on these perform. Could not pass up $10.

I ordered 2 blacks and they arrived yesterday, one for me and one to keep in a drawer for the next friend who shows an interest in FP. Thanks for the heads up! This pen is definitely swinging above it's weight class!

I got 99 plumoj but a BIC ain't one. HIT ME!!!

Now if only they had the same deal here in Canada. When I looked up Staples Canada and Pilot Metropolitan, it said they were not available.

I received my 2 Metro's (1 black and 1 silver) last week. I decided to gift one to my 11 year old daughter hlwho has been using a Jinhao X450 up until now. She complains about the weight of the Jinhao and doesn't use it for long periods of time. She was quick to put the Metro to use and its becoming attached to her hand. I wrote a few lines and would have to say its super smooth, though I too noticed the long amount of time it took to get the ink flowing. I know its technically not a "kids" pen but at the price I would recommend it for a kid. Its a hearty pen but not too heavy. Plus it writes so easily they will fal in love with writing as evidenced by my own daughters love for hers. I am thinking about grabbing a few more as gifts and spares.
