Jinhao 599 Review

I saw the new Jinhao 599 on eBay several weeks ago for less than $4.00 (!) and decided to pick one up. It certainly looks like an "homage" to a popular German pen whose name begins with an "L"....

I got one, as well, for $4.76 . After flushing, it writes adequately smooth and continuously, until the converter is out of ink.

Like it. I decided to get more, though I don't need any. Maybe to share. In the past week, I bid on about 40 Ebay offerings.

$2.01 with free shipping. Slim chance ! Pleasant surprise. Won a red for $1.80; a black for $1.68; and a blue for $2.01 .

Different clip than the Safari. The body material is thinner, perhaps more brittle (not ABS). Overall the pen feels skinnier,

lighter, cheaper, and at least as comfortable to use.

I hope they all write as well as the first one.

Update 2:55 pm. Just won a yellow for $2.01 . Enough, already ! Someone else bid.

I received the Jinhao 599 last week, and I find it quite pleasant. I got the red model, but to me it's a Orange color. I paid $2.99 free shipping. The nib is smooth and the flow I would describe as wet. Very nice design of the Lamy pen. To me it writes better than some of my Lamy's.

I got, uhhm ... four? The first in yellow with the open nib 'cos I was curious. The second in orange with the open nib because I NEEDED an orange pen.

Two of the hooded variety, a red and a green. Those are both loaded, the red with JH Perle Noir, the green with Sailor Yama-Dori, and I like their nibs better. The open-nib ones are laboring to write and their converters stiff and reluctant.

For what I paid, and for the orange factor, I can't complain too much. Just a little. ;)

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.
