Waterman No 52 Bchr Accommodation Clip

I found a really nice 52 with an accommodation clip. The pen has small holes in cap where an attached clip used to be. Clip is made by Argus MFG CO Chicago ILL USA PAT FEB 21 1922 and ROYAL is on the very top of the clip.
When I first saw the pen with the clip, I thought it had to be a 55 or 56 as it makes the pen look bigger. Pen is in such fantastic shape that its a keeper either way but Is this a generic clip made for any number of different makes of pens? And does it detract from the value of the pen given it used to have a clip?
Thanks!

Yes, having a missing clip does detract from the value, but much of the value of a 52 comes from the nib. All things being equal, we knock about $50 off the price if the pen that originally had a clip is missing a clip. An accommodation clip might restore $10 of that lost value.

Hi Teri.

Would it be regarded as plus, minus or neutral if an unfitted pen had had an accommodation clip added?

Kindest regards

Timothy

Thanks Teri! The nib is a medium? with some flex. This pen is so black and crisp that it made my dark chocolate 52 look like milk chocolate. The imprints are all crisp, no wear or fade-pen was well cared for except for the clip incident...As I said, its a keeper. I don't think I'll ever find a cap with clip to match the barrel. Although nothing will surprise me in this hobby/addiction/obsession...

Not sure what you mean by "unfitted." Without a clip originally? Unless it's a really cool accommodation I doubt if would add more than $10 to the value.

Yes, I meant originally clipless. I thought an accommodation clip might be regarded as a detraction if bolted on and not original.

Hello! Do you still have this clip and can I buy it from you? I've been looking for this exact accommodation clip for a long time... it would really mean a lot to me.
