The NOS Bayard Special 8 that I just snagged on the MoneyPit, I mean eBay.

I've got two big dogs on the way to me:

  • Pelikan M1005 Black/Rhodium
  • MB 149, 90th anniversary (sent for a nib exchange to BB)

Can't wait for these two!

I'm on the fence about the M805 Stresemann. Does anyone know for certain if these are a regular production, not a special edition? I've read/heard conflicting reports about it.

I do not know yet. Maybe a Waterman Carene or a Lamy 2000 or some Pilot pen or some more Parker 25... Hmmm, so many choises...

I personnaly own Pilots, Carene and Lamy 2K and .... if I like the Carene's look, I really don't like his nib : hard as a nail .... I like the Lamy 2OOO nib but the Pilots are soooooo great ........ Perhaps you can ask your pen dealer to try those pens ......

It seems to be regular production : here is a link to the Pelikan website .... http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/en_US.FWI.displayShop.204075./souveraen-805-stresemann

Yes, I should probably wait til I can go to a pen store and check the pens out in person. Pilots are the most interesting. The only Pilots I have are six Birdies. I mostly have nails so it would be nice to have something else.

A couple of preppies to use with my Noodlers colors. The converters for the preppy cost twice as much as the pen itself. A couple more bottles of Noodlers . And five monte verde mini converters for my Schrades.

Ummm... One of three options in order of likelihood (greatest to least).

A super cheap junky pen for me to take apart, mess with the nib, and test out questionable inks.

Some kind of pen with a flex nib for furthering my quest for pretty handwriting.

Save up for some kind of super nice pen that writes like a dream and looks like one too.

"Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: 'Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."

I'm quite happy with what I have at the moment and would like to think I could go the rest of the year with out buying another pen. I just spent about £60 an M200 so the vast majourity of this years pen fund is spent. However I do have two pens on my list that I would like to buy perhaps early next year to satisfy my crave for the weird and wonderful a Pelikan Twist

As well as a Worther Compact Fountain pen.

I think I need to buy some more inks before more pens know.

How are you liking your M200? I've just received an Amazon giftcard and looking to get my hands on an M200

I think my next will be a TWSBI Diamond 580. Something about them captures my interest. Just a nice, clean design and nothing ornate.

I'm thinking about getting the TWSBI 580 USA at some point. My partner is a veteran, and it might be a pen he actually appreciates. :P Plus, my new Vac700 has me turned on to TWSBI now, so it's on the brain. Perhaps that new Vac Mini will come out soon in clear.. ooo.

seriously considering making the jump to a cross townsend with 18k nib

These are great pens. I love mine. It's about 17 years old, sterling silver with a medium 18K nib. It's definitely a softer gold, though I never try to flex it.

It's one of my wettest, smoothest mediums. I would suggest you write with it in a store if possible, and if you find one you really like, buy that one. One of the dealers at the Dallas Pen Show mentioned to me that some of the Townsend nibs weren't quite up to par, and seemed surprised at how nice mine is. That said, it's one of the most comfortable, pleasant to use pens I have. Near-perfectly designed. I think it's definitely worth getting. If the nib isn't perfect, a trip to a good nib-meister should do the trick. I know these nibs can sing.
