Which One Will Be Your Next Fountain Pen ?

Whew... It's been a wild year of pen purchases. Still saving for a Nakaya, but I think some Noodler's Konrads in acrylic are needed to fill out more of my collection. John Mung and Olde Salem, you shall be mine after the new year!

Just got my Bexley today and I'm eyeing the next on my short wishlist. A Pilot VP ^_^

I haven't been here all that long, but I've already learned to stop scanning and read when I see your avatar. Your posts are always eminently sane. Like this one -- those are 2 eminently sane pens to have on one's wishlist.

I'm getting a fountain pen on Christmas Day (a Parker Urban) and perhaps one on December 22 and Christmas Eve. It depends on whether my Secret Santas got me what I asked for!

Must be a Belgian thing. I was in love with my high school French teacher, and she was Belgian.

Should be something like that .....

I probably should get one of those Sheaffer student pens, just for nostalgia. Wrote with one for over five years in school before graduating to one of the red and chrome Snorkels and then to a PFM III. All of them are unfortunately lost to follow-up.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Should take micromesh to my Sheaffer school pens and then I would use them again.

Sure they are far from being top of the range pens but it's always a pleasure to write with ....

I would love to have my old Snorkels back.

It's not so difficult to find Snorkels on Ebay .... You should be able to have some within a few days rather easily.

I don't NEED another pen. I have about 12 pens slowly acquired over more than 15 years. I don't consider myself a collector, but an avid user. I've been doing italic calligraphy now seriously as a hobby for the last 4 years so my focus is on that more than my fountain pen "collection". I spend what disposible cash I have on calligraphy books, paper, I want a light box etc.

I have 2 Pilot VP's and use either one of them daily. I also have a Noodler's Ahab which has taken me a long time to fuss with but which is finally writing nicely. I have several other nice pens which I use when fancy takes me.

So, as a user I sure don't need another pen, but boy that Izumo really strikes my fancy and I may just splurge this Christmas. If I give in, I'll order it with a music nib if available, or get the broadest nib and have the Mottishaw people grind it to a cursive italic for me.

I can't decide if I want to finish purchasing my desired acrylic Noodler Konrads and a Nib Creaper, or if I want to go vintage and get another Parker Vacumatic. Hmmm...

I am probably gonna buy a Lamy 2000, then save my money for a Nakaya.

There are several calling my name. The 2 top contenders are:

  1. an OMAS in Arco Bronze finish, either a Milord or an Ogiva Vintage.
  2. a Nakaya . . . [too many models and finishes to name].

Well, if I get a holiday bonus at work, then I may look into a Scriptorium Balladeer

...and if I do not get a holiday bonus, then I'm thinking I may get a pen of some sort for Christmas as a gift. Maybe a TWSBI or Stipula of some sort. We'll see.
