Which One Will Be Your Next Fountain Pen ?

Thier.

Recommended Posts

I am lusting after a Nakaya 17mm diameter long cigar in Ake-tamenuri with a vermeil goldfish roll-stop and a broad nib ground to a cursive italic by John Mottishaw.

Out-of-my-price-range dreams include the Sailor Founding Centenary Commemorative Arita porcelain pen and stationery set and the Sailor King of Pen Autumn Under the Stars limited edition.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Wait a minute... I think there's been a mix up at the North Pole post office!all of those pens are exactly what I asked Santa for! ;-)

Platinum 3776 Century, Pilot Custom Heritage 92, Pelikan M200, and eventually a Nakaya... although which one, I'm not yet sure. After all this, I'll either stop buying until something I really love comes along, or start buying vintage. (Waterman and Esterbrook, I'm looking at you!)

:-) My only problem is that I don't know which one I'm going to use .... Everyday, I choose 3 or 4 of it to work but I really would like to use it all directly which is far from being possible ......

I promise, when I don't want them anymore, I send it to you via Santa ........

Yes but I haven't my old Leicaflex SL2 anymore...... Well, I was not obliged to trade it for the pens and I have other cameras ..... The guy I made the deal with has much more pens and has an eye on another camera I own .........

I was wondering that myself. Jetpens sells the aluminum Liliputs for $55 and the brass for $83.50.

Kaweco's website doesn't have any mention of these fireblue steel pens yet, but they have a stainless steel version and a copper version that they say are currently exclusively sold at Manufactum department stores in Germany (interestingly, only through November 2014 - so these two might be coming to America soon?)

On Manufactum's site, they list Liliput fountain pens for the following amounts:

aluminum, 41€ ($51)

brass, 62€ ($77)

stainless steel, 73€ ($91)

copper, 84€ ($105)

So on Jetpens, I would expect a regular stainless steel to go for about $98 and a copper for $113. This fireblue steel might fall in between the regular steel and the copper - so I'd expect around $100 - $110.

Wow, I was way off. They are on sale now. $168.50.

I was rather disappointed to see such a steep price for the Fireblue Liliput moments ago.. While I find it to be quite attractive, I just can't justify the price for a mini cartridge pen. I'd rather spend that money on vintage flex. Guess I'll be sticking with buying the Brass Wave Liliput and some vintage items this weekend. :P

Indeed, it's a very high price for such a pen. Ok, it looks fine. Yes, many persons would like to have one .... But I don't think they will sell a lot of it at a so high price ....

I agree they've priced themselves out of serious contention for me as well. It is a very interesting finish none the less. I have a M600 Blue/Black on order from Mass Drop and I think I will place an order for a Red/Black M600 from Cult Pens next week.

My next pen will be a Nakaya Dorsal Fin version 2 in urushi Aka-tamenuri with a music nib, if I win the lottery or that unknown relative that I'm sure is lurking out there leaves me a bundle.

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none. Shakespeare

Oh, wow. nice haul! What is the fifth pen? That's so pretty!

My next pen would be a Pilot VP, which has just recently been made available locally in my country. Their store is a few hours' drive from where I live but it will be so worth it. :)

The last one is a Pilot Falcon with a Soft Fine nib .....

When you write that the store is a few hours driving from where you live is so strange for me : in 3 hours, you can go from one side of the country to the other ...... :-)

The fifth pen looks like a Graf von Faber Castell in Pernambuco wood. Every time I see this pen, I can't help hearing Sherlock Holmes saying, "Her people have been leaders in Pernambuco for generations."

Right, it's the Classic Graf Von Faber Castell . I also have a Graf Intuition in Grenadilla wood which is splendid. Bigger than the classic but with a wonderfull handling due to his special shape .....

Oh God. It's happening. I put my order into nibs.com. Nakaya Naka-ai Heki Tamenuri cigar with kanji and a 0.5mm Mottishaw stub. :gaah: And I immediately went and deleted all my eBay watched items. No more pen buying for a long time.
