TOO MANY CHOICES: A PROBLEM THAT CAN PARALYZE

THE PARADOX OF CHOICE - WHY MORE IS LESS

OVERCHOICE

Seeking the perfect choice ... “is a recipe for misery”

Faced with too many choices, consumers ... can be indecisive, unhappy, and even refrain from making the purchase at all.

An excess of choices often leads us to be less, not more, satisfied once we actually decide. There’s often that nagging feeling we could have done better.

It is not clear that more choice gives you more freedom. It could decrease our freedom if we spend so much time trying to make choices.

One way to tackle the choice problem is to become more comfortable with the idea of “good enough".

I have officially started my hint campaign for Christmas. As a very good boy this year (well, mostly), it would be very nice if Santa left me a Sailor Pro Gear Sky with a Cross Music nib under the tree. I expect I will have to hint this gently many times before it takes hold ;-). Hey, I can hope...

Sometimes, that works. I personnaly received a beautiful Visconti Van Gogh Irises today as birthday present . Just posting a picture of the desired item on facebook one month ago, forgotting the Visconti catalogue on the living room table 15 days ago and stopping to have a look on that splendid pen at the dealer's window last week while accompanied by madam ..... Gogogo, Santa won't forget you ....

My next one will be here Monday - a Karas ink in all silver. I think it will be one of my top Fps for off desk use. Meetings etc tend to be filled with people wanting to see my FP and this one has durability and looks. AND the Schmidt nibs are cheap enough for DIY grinding.

Nice birthday present too! I plan on having the Van Gogh Starry Nights printed in bold in my letter to Santa. :)

I have fine and medium nib. Both are rather wet (and I like that) and have a littIe flex (but no t so much) I also have a Varius Metwood which has the same style and nib. I use to like big pens but those thiny are eye catchers and I have a real pleasure to write with (and it's the most important ...)

Happy Birthday, Thier.! Congrats on the new Visconti! :D

I'm thinking I'll try to get an Ackerman Pump Pen for manga G nibs, and hope that it arrives in a decent amount of time. So many bad reviews about the customer service.. But it's exactly what I'm looking for, so I think I might risk it. And I decided on a Kaweco Lilliput Brass for my next nice pen. I've gotten the hang of using flexible dip nibs in Noodler's pens, and won't be needing that Pilot Falcon anymore. I'd rather save the money from that and put it toward the Nakaya I yearn for so desperately. Ama-Iro, you shall be mine within the upcoming year!

That sounds like a perfect nib. I think I must put it on my pens to buy list. Thanks.

Happy birthday!

CFP has put a big fat knot in my Xmas plans! Turns out the Cross Music is not available in a rhodium finish so it wouldn't match the trim on the Sky. Bummer. Then there was the cost, that is one very expensive little piece of gold. Holy cow, it more than DOUBLED the price of the pen. Time to re-evaluate. If I tried to put that on my wish list for Santa, I think someone would have kittens on the spot. Then maybe deny knowing me ;-)
