It was at Pendleton's table that I first saw an Akkerman ink bottle (the older larger version) which he used for pen testing. It was filled with #8 - beautiful.

I received 30 bottles of ink from Akkerman, but unfortunately, some of these did not fare well on the overseas journey. I am working with Paul at Akkerman to fix the situation, and will post updates as to how that goes.

 

The unnumbered bottle at the top is another #18 Garuda Rood, much to one FPN member's delight who substituted it from their original selection of #16 Oranje Boven.

From the photos it actually looks as if just the one bottle got damaged. Were there others that just don't show in the picture of all the boxes stacked up? I'll admit that I was somewhat frantically checking the list to see which colors I ordered (I remembered the names, just not what the # was).

Bummer for whoever's bottle of Shocking Blue that was supposed to have been. Hopefully it can get straightened out quickly.

It's a hard shipment - but if you only lost one bottle, you are ahead of the game. #13 SV can never make the trip to me in a first shipment without breaking. Paul is wonderful and will work with you. I'd suggest opening it up for another group buy because otherwise, the only reasonable thing to do is allow Paul to refund the money. It's the shipping that is the real expense and we don't want Paul to quit doing overseas shipping.

True. Looking at the photo of the bottle I wondered if I had made a mistake by NOT getting a bottle of Shocking Blue. It made me think of some iridescent glass goblets and pitcher I saw in an antiques store in the last day or two.

I opened the box of each to find that three had leakage. One clearly leaked through the protective plastic bag and the box (pictured), one stained the inside of the box and filled the protective plastic bag but is not visible from the outside, and the leak of the last was contained inside the protective plastic bag, but was enough to stain the bottle label. Had I not opened up the boxes, at least two individuals would have received an unpleasant surprise. I don't believe that there were any breaks, but for three bottles the seals were not tight enough for the change in air pressure during their mid-atlantic flight.

 

I expect to have the situation remedied by the Supershow.

The new DC Metro Silverline is due to open July 26th, so it should be open for business just before the SuperShow. The Spring Hill stop is the one nearest to the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner.
