out of all pen i own i only have four really expensive ones, and i use them all. If i had 500 pens i wouldn't bother to try them all.

So i use conway stewart a 149 a 146 and a ballpoint MB 163? 164 whatever

i use the 149 and conway stewart all the time. The 146 is my red ink mark up whenever i have to proofread my menus among the crew

my conway is my fat signature ( Italic Medium is 1.0mm stub) and note taking pen and my 149( fine-medium) is my everyday writing pen

they each have their purpose and the ballpoint is my backup for lend

I think i am done for now until xmas :D I dont know what to get after that. maybe a conway churchill ?

edit* I would liek to buy a waterman man 100 harlequin in chased black, perhaps a medium or bold. or perhaps modified stub this would be my first waterman.

out of all watermans the 100 is more appealing for my taste

'The Yo-Yo maneuver is very difficult to explain. It was first perfected by the well-known Chinese fighter pilot Yo-Yo Noritake. He also found it difficult to explain, being quite devoid of English.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

I'm using a Parker 51 (or the Parker 45) for most of my writing, as both contain black ink.

I keep two Hero 616s (one with red, one with blue/purple) on me for a lot of my work notations.

Like many others I learned about pens from cheap pens. The cheap pen that weighed a ton showed me I can't handle metal pens. A bunch of cheap vintage pens found at flea markets and repaired (inexpensively) showed me that lever fillers annoy the heck out of me. Lamy Safari fine points showed me that the nib doesn't always have to be medium. I learned to write italic on a Lamy joy 1.9. My pelican 200 nib worn into a flat foot by use and ground to a stub taught me how lovely stubs are and how long I could expect one gold nib to last given exceptionally heavy use.

After 10 years I bought two wonderful expensive pens this year: a Pelikan 600 in February and a Nakaya Naka Ai (BB .7 stub) that arrived the day before yesterday. Boy do I ever appreciate these pens. I plan to use the heck out of them and who knows what shape they will be in on my death bed. I honestly don't care. But if anyone touches them while I'm alive they better watch out!

I still want a Noodler Ahab or Creeper, to try out flex pens and practice copperplate. If I find that fun, in 5 or 10 years maybe I'll get a really good pen with a flex nib (or just order a flex nib for my Pelikan).
