This was so much fun! I love the look of the ink, even in its various concentrations.

Cyber6, sadly, the Thistle Ink powder does not appear to be available any more. I got mine from eBay vendor vanviking. You might want to contact him to see if he has any left. You might contact eBay vendor dragontoots to see if she has any of her Simpsons ink powder left (currently there is a little bottle of Walnut brown up on her eBay store

Amber, this ink is not an iron-gall one, it is a simple aniline dye ink, and somewhat washable. I do have some Webster Diamine Blue-Black powder that is IG, but it has solidified in the container. I am currently looking for a container and a cheap mortar and pestle to turn it from a blue-black cylindrical rock back into powder.

I do believe this ink is the precursor to the current Diamine Registrar's ink. If anybody from Diamine was reading this, I would ask them if they have any of this old ink left in storage.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

And if you were wondering HOW far those little granules can go? (I mentioned the two sheets of 18x24, here are the images AND the two paper towels that were the first to be sacrificed to the clean up.)

Thank you for the review. I've seen powdered ink here and there but presumed that it's of no use for a fountain pen (maybe that does hold for powders I've seen).

It depends on the powder.

I'm loving this review, thank you for posting it amberlea!

Today I learned that there is ink *powders* as well as liquid inks.

I'll keep on struggling, 'cause that's the measure of a man.

Great. I have found that Dragontoots' instructions for making up the ink a bit strong. I would use a tiny scoop and add water gently until you get the colour you want. She says to use 1 part powder to 2 parts water. I have found with her ink powders that one part powder to 5 or 10 parts water is a good start.

Again, this review was possible only because of the generosity of DCWaites.
