Jinhao 159 Clipless ("hack")

So, recently I was cycling through pens and gave my 159 another go. It worked for me for the past week but today the ink spilled out of the top of the cap and into my leather case. Luckily, I cleaned it up and wrapped it in a cloth for the rest of the day I was at uni. Anyways, my solution was to put silicon grease on the top threads in the case that it would happen again.

Then I had a thought. What if I left the clip off?

I present to you:

Quite beautiful IMHO. Sailor 1911L for comparison.

NB: just remember to put silicon grease on the top as although it is tight, I wouldn't trust it to be waterfast.

Nice clean lines ! It's an attractive pen. The clip on my 159 serves the important anti-roll function. Otherwise, it is worthless to me.

This pen is too big and heavy to carry in my pocket. Remember to keep the pen "nib-up" and out of the heat.

Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn.
Zum Augenblicke dürft ich sagen:
Verweile doch, du bist so schön !

Thanks for the tip :)

It's attractive, but what are you doing about the nib and feed? If ink has been spilling out, seems like you got some problems at the nib, feed or converter portion of the pen (air is getting in there somewhere to let ink loose that much).

With the cap clipless and sealed, are you getting ink in the cap still, if you go to rinse it out is there a bunch of ink?

PS: I wish the top dome on the X750 were as easily removable.

I wonder if knowing that there's that little notch there to accommodate a clip, if you could install some kind of charm or knob or something small there to serve that purpose.

So far it's been holding up in me just fine. I found that the metal part between the section and the barrel could be screwed so I sealed it with silicon grease. I found that ink was magically coming out of the section and I was worried because it may have cracked but it ended up only being the loose join there.

And yes, in theory anything could be out there in place of it. That'll give it some personal flare

Maybe something like I saw on this thread. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/266821-cumberland-with-a-roll-stopper/
