I'm not interested in the pen, but the handwriting and the sketch are great!

Thanks for the post.

OMG where did you learn to write like that!!?!? it's beautiful!!! it looks as though i'm looking at handwriting from the time when the declaration of independence was written.

couldn't have come from US public schools

What inks have you found to be the "best" fit/feel for your Trident? I tend to like a rich black and intend to use a recently purchased Trident for a mix of sketching and daily use. (And to add to the unanimous praise - beautiful handwriting! Me - somehow I got stuck in third grade so settle for a barely legible printing...).

Hi! I have to tell you that Aurora Black (which is my favorite black) and the Sailor Trident do not play nice, unless you are very fastidious about flushing. I forgot that the Trident had ink in it and stored it away for a week; when I tried to use it, it refused to write. I had to soak it overnight in a very mild detergent solution, scrub with an old toothbrush, and floss all the tines. Waterman Black isn't as deep, but works better. :) HTH! :)

Leigh,

I just wanted to let you know that your reviews are one of the reasons I enjoy this site so much and decided to start writing on the boards. I could look at your handwriting samples all day and walk away a better man.

Great review of a pen I was looking into buying. A fountain pen that can write from all angles has a certain appeal to me.

The high prices that the Trident (around $200 U.S.) is going for right now was the main deterrent for not buying when I had the chance, but hearing how the nib can clog and dry up if not used regularly was probably the real deciding factor for me. Have you encountered this problem so far? And can you really write from any angle?

Love the ink too. Ack! I just bought too more colors today. I can't afford any more.

Thanks again,

Brad

Thank you, Brad! Yes, the nib can clog if you don't use it regularly, or if like me you forget it has ink in it for a week! But otherwise it is very reliable. Yes, you can write from any angle. :)

Thanks for letting me know Leigh. I won't be buying one anytime soon but it'll be a fun pen to have if I do. Maybe I'll pick up the Hero that's a lot like the Trident.

I just realized yesterday that I've come across your Moleskine art months ago before getting into fountain pens. I used to keep your pages up on my browser for inspiration. It really is a small world. Love your work. Everyone should check it out if they haven't already.
