The Right 3 Pen Case For Big Pens

Johnboy976

Recommended Posts

I have the Pelikan 3 pen case, holding 2 M800 and a Sailor 1911L in the middle. Can hold smaller pens (clip them to the case walls) and I have the feeling it could accomodate 3 M1000s (wish I had them to try lol).

I have this case and it works fine with any of my pens, both the larger and the smaller. I do not have any M1000 but when looking at the measurements it seems like it would fit.

How about a design like this:

Thats from Winter Session. Billed as a four barrel pen holder, the cover flap would easily give you enough cover for 3 larger pens. The clips would be protected by the flap and they would help keep the pens in place, large or small.

I am looking for a three pen case that will hold the larger pens in my collection, while also allowing for a snug fit for the smaller ones. As an example of size, I have a Pelikan M1000, an Edison Collier and a Visconti Black Divina (to name a few). What is your recommendation? I have been looking at the fabric Franklin-Christoph and the Nook Co. Hightower, which are either sold out or not selling, for the moment. I am not against the idea of getting something leather, but it has to be big enough to hold the larger of my pens, while also being small enough to fit in a larger jean pocket.

Note: I already own a 2 pen Visconti case, which I love, but the compartments are big, and so leave smaller FPs rattling around in them.

That's surely made from nice leather and all, but 80$ seems pricey when looking at machine stitching and unfinished (i. e. not slicked) edges ...

Fountain pens in the jeans pocket is such a bad idea. That's how I broke several during my UOM college days.

I didn't listen. Neither will you. Sooooooooooo, let's minimize the damage potential.

Spend $8.95 for a steel, "clam-shell", eyeglass case. Cut a piece of poster board or plastic to fit inside it,

as an insert. Attach three elastic loops to the insert. Like the smell of leather with your fountain pens ?

Have a craft shop make the insert from leather, instead of plastic.

Another level of protection: Thieves are less likely to "target" eyeglasses.

So, you aren't going to listen. The next time you go to the Renaissance Festival, take the leather case.

Ask one of the leather craftsmen to cut a leather insert / filler to slip into the oversized chamber.

If there is a guardian saint of fountain pens, may he watch over yours.

The remit was to make a case that able to hold large pens and offer them maximum protection with that in mind they are lined in suede and Kydex then wrapped in leather

If you are looking for economy with great quality, I would suggest the dealers below. I have bought from both of them with excellent service. I also agree with Sasha Royale that carrying in a pants pocket is a recipe for disaster with the exception of hard clamsheel type case such as the eyeglass cases or those with a clip to attach to a belt. A warning that I might add is that cases made of thicker leather, as above, can "spring" some clips, so leave the clips inside the sleeve.

Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry

The case is superb. Please may I ask if you're making more since I'd be interested. R

Sorry, wanted to add that Nock cases are very good and, according to their website, the Hightower is available. Their Lookout is also suitable for a 149, CS Churchill, and a PFM. Usual disclaimers apply. R

Wow that's a very nice case. Do you mind telling us how much you would charge to make another one?

I am not sure of the rules on giving out prices other than in market watch, I don't think they are expensive considering that kydex is normally used for gun holsters and is incredibly strong.

Why not send me a message with your requirements and I will give you the best price I can.

Again apologies for hijacking the thread.
