Uncorking A Sailor 1911 Pro Gear Music.

I've been futzing a bit with some fluctuating wetness/dryness in my new Sailor 19ll Pro Gear with a music nib. After watching S. Brown's vid on disassembling the thing, I decided to do so and scrubbed the feed, nib and section down with a little water, a toothbrush, a Q-tip, and Palmolive detergent. Rinse well. I also re-aligned the feed on the nib to set it absolutely straight down the middle of the tines, and now the thing lays down really juicy long lines, and will write fast for many pages, without showing any signs of dryness with PR Avocado ink. Very happy with the results.

BTW, disassembly was straightforward following the steps in the vid exactly.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Hopefully others who may be having the same issue can resolve it with your encouragement.

Good to know...I've got a 1911 Large on order, and will definitely use this info if it becomes necessary.

I didn't have this issue at all with my Pro Gear with the broad nib, only the music nib. There must've been some minute debris in the feed notch impeding the ink flow.

The only slightly tricky part is aligning the small slot on the bottom of the feed with the very slight (almost un-noticeable) ridge inside the section, then push the feed/nib assembly straight in. Push the feed/nib into the section carefully at first to make certain that the notch and ridge are properly engaged as SB clearly explains in the youtube vid.
