My valet takes care.

- George, do we have any Asa Gao at hand?

- Yes Sir, I just refilled the Montegrappa Salvador Dali this morning at 8 o'clock

- Thank you George, nice color isn't it?

Alas, it's tough to find a George these days.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oh go on The Blue Knight, give us a little teaser now . . . :)

I saw a Youtube video at the end of last week which inspired me to catalogue my own inks. Essentially I wanted to do it as cheaply as possible as I'm far more then a pen person then an ink person. So I would rather save money to spend on pens. I came up with the idea of using a business card folder and cutting some sheets of Oxford Optik paper down to size.

I've only filled 4 pages of folder as I don't have have that many inks however the folder has more then enough space (160 spaces) for the foreseeable future.

To do this it only cost me about £3 including postage.

I use Jon Ro's pen inventory system that he set up for us here at FPN. There is a section in it for inks, and that is what i use.........

Okay, it hasn't been quite 6 months... but let's follow up.

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOUR METHOD?

Absolutely. I do a hardcopy every so many weeks, and I also make a note, every first line with a new pen, of writing down what pen and what ink it is. So I find myself checking my spreadsheet regularly. Now that I am doing all this ink testing, it's invaluable. Couldn't keep them all straight, otherwise...

a fountain pen is physics in action... Proud member of the SuperPinks

I had to change my method, the cards were too confusing and laying around everywhere. I tried a couple of notebooks, including these:

The paper on these is LOUSY.

So, I've ordered Tomoe River notebooks. I hope that works.

no method at all.

Why should I? Bottles are labelled. Pens have colors and there's always a tap around...

And yes, I'm happy with my method :-)

Greetings,

Michael

Same method with my Mnemosyne cards only I have a few more now and a pile devoted to KWZI and SuSeMai inks.

I've updated the doodle I use on my watercolour stocks. I don't draw vases anymore, I draw a salt pot.

Six months ago, I didn't have enough inks to worry about. Now, I'm rather relaxed about it. A pen runs out, and I look at the pens and say, "What looks like fun?" and then pick a pen. Then I say, "What ink sounds good?" and put it in that pen. I do try to have different colors going in the two pens I carry. Today it's Tsuki-yo and an orange. Quite contrasting.

I'll probably have at least one Iroshizuku inked for the next couple of years... :)

My method is very simple - pen name/color followed by ink color written in a cheap notebook. I just want to know what colors are in each of my pens so I can refill them easily and tell my pen-pals what the various inks are that I use in my letters

Thanks!....

Was pleasantly surprised at how well they worked for this, size-wise, and taking ink well......

A friend of mine went to the Arkansas Pen Show. He knows the Col-O-Ring people and said they may be coming out with a Rolodex style system for their cards. If you had only patented your system....
