Hi all

Just wondering

I often see reference to the pen maker Faber Castell and also Graf Von Faber Castell, and on some sites they have both listed.

Are they the same company or are there two different ones with similar names

Thanks for clearing up my confusion.

Paul

Faber-Castell : BASIC ($38-45), Loom (~$40), Ambition (~$70-170), eMotion (~$130-175), Ondoro (~$140-165) <--- apparently they call these their "Design" Products

GVFC : Classic (~ $575), Classic Annelo (~ $525), Guilloche (~ $375), Intuition (~$475), Intuition Platino (~$895), Intio (~$225), Pocket Pen (~$150), Pen of the Year ($4,500)

Basically two different pricing market, though Faber-Castell's website won't show accessories such as inks, and such, when I inquired about a converter for my BASIC, I was linked to the GVFC page for their inks and such (but they currently have no direct means of ordering the converter). And website wise GVFC is put together better without much confusion, FC's website seemed pretty slapped together in terms of functionality and finding stuff and they seem to just use Shopatron for ordering.

Whichever one you decide to purchase from, I would suggest dealing with a retailer, and not the manufacture directly, as a retailer seems to get things done much faster and to better satisfaction than dealing with Faber-Castell directly.

- internally: one company. all the productions plants do not divide between the names

- externally: two different companies, but just by the product range

They also differ by representation - not every shop sells both products, especially with the GvFC they are quite limited regarding online sales.

But when the sun goes down, it's still one family...

Cannot say about their top of the line Pen of the Year series but GvFC are real quality pens (even though only cartridge converters) and their nibs are tops.
