Sheaffer Ephemera On "american Pickers."

I was watching a recent episode of the TV show "American Pickers" on the History Channel and there happened to be an interesting item of Sheaffer ephemera featured.

They were "picking" through some guy's warehouse of stuff and they stumbled upon a Sheaffer display case. It was cube shaped with a large glass top and wooden base with scrolled legs. The front of the case has "Sheaffer's" in gold letters painted on the front of the glass. They valued it at around $450.

I thought it was pretty neat because I don't think I've ever seen anything related to fountain pen history or antiques on any of the popular antiques genre of reality TV shows (pawn, storage locker, picker etc. etc.).

What was also neat was that since the guys on the show are from Iowa they knew a little about the Sheaffer company and they showed an image of an old Sheaffer's ad when they were explaining about the company.

On a somewhat related note, I was at a restaurant/bar here in New Jersey that has a lot of old ads from the 1910s to 1930s framed and hung on the walls and they had an ad for Sheaffer flattop fountain pens. I remarked to my friends how cool it was and they seemed to be really confused by that

I saw and enjoyed that episode, also. At a Cracker Barrel restaurant which also displays adds and things from the past, I annoyed a couple by reading a complete Parker Pen ad from the late 1930s that was between my table and their.

In a show from several seasons ago, they managed to find in another basement what appeared to be a blue vac major and a pearl and black balance--if I recall they purchased the for $25 a piece

I remember an episode awhile back where they bought a few fountain pens and I was trying to see what they were, but couldn't make them out. $25 a piece for an Azure Vac Major and a black and pearl Balance seems like a good price.
