Best A4 Size Notebook With White Paper And Not Spiral Bound

Hello, I have been searching for more than an hour and I have difficulties on finding a notebook which could meet my criteria. I don't think what I need is something special or unique but I was really surprise I couldn't find any good option at the moment. Here's what I have been looking for:

  • Fountain Pen Ready Notebook (of course  )
  • A4 Size
  • White Paper (Doesn't have to be bright white like the clairefontaine, but it shouldn't change the colour of my ink like the Rhodia "Webbie")
  • Not Wire-Bound. (I feel very uncomfortable when my hands are touching the Spiral on the left page, I don't know why people would like it)
  • Lined
  • Hard Cover (optional, shouldn't be optional really but I don't have a lot of choice)

At the moment, I only found the clairefontaine cloth bound notebook meets the above criteria. However, it is not available in the UK unless I paid for a pack of 5 on the Ebay. Originally the Rhodia Webbie was a good option but the Paper is just too creamy and I found it was not as good as the original Clairefontaine paper.

Many thanks for your help anyway! Any comment will be much appreciated :)

Search for 'casebound" to find the non wire bound version.

Black and Red notebooks, FP friendly paper and fairly well priced. It's just as good and better then the Claire-fontaine / Rhodia paper.

Many thanks! I just found the Moleskine Folio Ruled Notebook A4 meets my needs as well. Among Black & Red, Claire-fontaine Cloth Bound, and Moleskine Folio, which one is the best in terms of paper quality?

Moleskine is pretty bad paper. It's about 70 gsm it bleeds through, shows through, feather's. It's not not great paper.

Black and Red Is very good paper 90gsm paper. I have used it for a long time and it always works well with whatever ink I throw at it.or whatever pen I use on it.

Clairefontaine Similar to black and red however a lot pricier for paper which is very similar to black and red.

Gordon, if you can get to an Asda I recommend a look at their notebook lines. I have an "Executive" one that cost me a couple of quid and has a hard black cover, and has excellent paper. Only problem is it is cream, but I am fairly sure that they did white paper notebooks too.

No affiliation!

You're in the UK. I suggest the A4 Nu:Elite casebound notebooks. It fits all your requirements, and is a lot cheaper than many 'better' alternatives.

I always thought they looked a bit tacky

The Oxford office book is great for fountainpens, white and is available without spiral.

Don't they sell the hardcover Clairefontaine notebooks in the UK? That would be my first choice in your case.

Here is a link to the respective page of their catalogue.

Honestly Black and Red / Oxford Otik paper is really some of the best paper available at a very good price so I wouldn't look any further then it. You can get the Hard back books at a competitive price on amazon UK.

The Oxford Optik paper is at least as good as Clairefontaine and readily available in Europe for a very competitive price. I second that recommendation.
