Where there any Merlins made or assembled in the Netherlands or Belgium?

Thank you very much.

I only have two pens - an Aurora Optima and others.

One source says; Merlin is a German company. And their pens manufactured and semi assembled in Germany and sent to Netherland, Amsterdam.

Second source says: Merlin is a French company. And ten thousands of Merlin FPs are hiddened in the caves on south of France while the Nazis occupation of France. And these FPs rescued after the WWII

Hi,

Being Dutch and and owner of a fair amount of different Merlin models I agree on the first remark you made: yes they were designed and produced in Germany and yes, most Merlins were send as parts to a firm in Amsterdam were they were assembled to complete pens and they were sold mainly on the Dutch market.

And then: Tens of thousands of Merlins hidden in the South of France during WW II? Could and would you please reveal your source for that? Any info on when, how and by whom they were found and rescued? Seems like a spectacular story to me! Please tell!

I have a few Merlin bought longtime ago at the Akkerman shop in Amsterdam and a couple of them found in France...

Now, this story of thousand pens in the South of France also sound more than interesting, so as Lexaf before me, I am asking aliikiskaya to tell us more about his "Second source"...

@Lexaf @Azuniga The second source is two pen seller in South of France where I meet while I am driving from Paris to Marseille. In both pen seller shops I found the Merlins and Merlinas in completely disassembled situation. That was in spring of 1995. Pen sellers told me same story as I already written here. In 2001 I found some Merlin 33s and Merlinas in Reims(France) and Antwerp(Belgium). All pens that I found in last two cities was disassembled. Pen seller in Antwerp told me similar story that I heard in South of France.

I think Netherland distributor of Merlin had a connection with Belgium for Benelux countries distribution. And I know very well the Belgium and French Resistance Movement(Maquis=rural guerrilla bands of French Resistance) was founded in Marseille. All of these and story talken to me seems to me logic.
