De Atramentis Blackberry (Scanned Review)

Recommended Posts

Wanted to upload my review of the De Atramentis Blackberry. I wanted to get a review posted because the ones that I have found online did not manage to capture the color of the ink quite right. The review did scan "color correct" and in looking at this on a color calibrated monitor (I do a bit of photo work, and calibration is critical) I can say that the color here is true to what is on the paper. Feel free to ask any questions. This is my first posted review, so hints/tips/suggestions/criticism would all be welcome.

EDIT : The scan being clipped at the bottom is my fault. Between not having enough coffee, and being up a late at a dinner last night, my alignment was "just a bit outside."

Thanks for the nice review. Also, one of my favourites, at least as re De Atramentis. Comparable -- spectrumwise, so to say -- to their Aubergine. But this one (the blackberry) still smells just like the real McCoy even after 5-6 years.

Thank you! Great review.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Stormin, now that I'm looking back on my blackberry, I still like it. What do you think now that you've had it for a while?

I own a bottle of this. I like the color, but I was disappointed that it smells nothing like the blackberries that grew around my house back in Pennsylvania. The color is closer to their juice after it oxidizes.

Just to defend that stuff, I resmelled it a minute ago and it (mine) still smells like fresh blackberry juice. As a matter of fact there are even a few growing outside right now. Maybe we just have different lots. I doubt that these inks are no longer made to smell like the real thing.
