Rotring Skynn

Recommended Posts

I have a Rotring skynn, bought several years ago, and am sentimentally attached to it. Had not used it for a while, and despite flushing and generally gently trying to persuade, it still is very scratchy to write with, and the ink barely flows: I really don't want to lean or press any harder. Any suggestions very welcome

I don't have the skynn, but I have several Rotring Cores. They can be hard starters.

You are sure it is clean, free of ink?

No water in the feed?

Using a cartridge?

If you are using a cartridge you can try squeezing it to get some ink to the feed. But carts can split if you are carefully. You could let the pen sit nib down over night, see if that helps.

If you have a syringe, draw some ink from a cartridge and try getting into the feed from the nib side.

Good luck.

Hi Doggonecarl,

Apologies for not responding....had a bout of food poisoning and am just now getting into the swing of things here. It's an odd pen, the skynn: it actually sits nib down, with a small cap on the bottom. I have sent away for one of those earwax bulb flusher-outer things, to try to give it a Good blast....it seems to be a pretty robust beastie. I did leave the nib unit to soak overnight but perhaps that has been it's undoing....

Thanks gain

Alex
