That's great!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Gift certificates. Some for the "usual suspects" of wonderful online enablers -- er, e-sellers, and some for restaurants (because if they have "everything" pen related, it stands to reason that they have no spare cash for things like food...). :lticaptd:

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

PS -- This thread reminds me of one of my social studies teachers in middle school or high school. His father apparently worked for the US State Department, and the whole family got invited to some fancy schmantzy diplomatic corp. wedding (entire wedding party flown to London for the ceremony, then to France to some castle for the reception). He said "What do you *possibly* get people like that as a wedding present?" and then said, "We got them Frisbees...." (Not the bottom of the line ones, fairly nice ones, but still...). He said people were throwing them around back and forth during the reception, because the great hall where the reception happened was large enough.

Okay, this *was* also the early- t0 mid-1970s....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

More storage space- be it for pen, ink or paper.

The photo of my ink window is a bit dated. I supposed I should take a new picture as there's less room now, shelves filled or nearly so with new ink. LOL

As for a gift for a pen enthusiast ... how about a nice big desk blotter in beautiful colors or faux leather.

How about a bottle of Hakase real sepia? I know that's what I lust after.

The reason I've never posted photos is because I have no good ones, and I can't *get* good ones. I keep my ink in my basement, which is an unfinished, dark, storage area. I needed somewhere away from the light and heat, and the basement seemed like the only place I could get that. But because it's so dark, photos don't take well down there. I often think about using a hand held light, but that starts to seem too complicated. Especially because the area is so tight right now with other stuff, I can't usually get far enough back to take a photo of the full height of the furniture. I snapped some photos today though, so here's what I've got.

This is a chest of drawers I got for $5 at a yard sale. It's as tall as my armpits (I'm about 5'7"). I've outgrown it, and am hopeful I'll find a newer, bigger one at this year's round of yard sales in my area.

Each drawer is organized in a fashion. The top drawer is red/yellow/orange ink, the next down in purple/brown, then green (and the few bottles of black I have), then dark blue, and the final one is light blue/Callifolio/Diamine sets.

I also have one of these storage bins here, the one on the bottom, FULL of ink. This is the first section of my "back up" inks.

The are stacked about 5 to 7 tall (depending on the bottle - 7 of the small 30mL MB inks, but only 5 of the 60 mL Sailor ones), and it's a bit longer than my arm in length. Since there's so muchs tuff on top of it and the box itself is so heavy, it's not easy to open. I lifted the corner of the lid and snapped this picture.

This is my old ink container that I outgrew a year or two ago. It is now my "back up" overflow area. The top drawer is still empty.

I also have a large shoebox filled with all my untested sample vials. It sits on top of my chest of drawers.

OH. YES :yikes:

I need a translator, perhaps some subtitles because my hearing isn't perfect. I'm even willing to just sit in the corner and pass notes.

I need a bigger "ink room"

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I agree with the others...What I need more of is space!

A more recent view...note the increased stacking and general cramming in to fit space! You can't even see many of my full size Akkerman inks (12) or many that are behind the front row stack...approaching 300 at this point but a long way to go to rival the Likes of Sam and Saskia and...well you know who you are!
