I thought you folks would enjoy a preview of my two Polish iron gall inks. I got two bottles in a trade with one of Nicpon's friends. Great colors and pretty darn good performance, no bleed through or feathering.

Well, the first samples have left the hands of Konrad and have entered the postal system. Sinistral1 - though a postal employee - did not use magic postal powers to acquire these inks early - she did it the old fashioned way, she bartered. Only Sinistral1 and Ethernautrix have any full bottles in the US (I think).

The samples will be arriving shortly. 47 colors for review by three moderators for consideration as official FPN inks.

So, stay tuned.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

If I possessed postal magic, I'm pretty sure I would not have mailed a box of samples to Poland instead of Las Vegas and visa versa! However, in true Barney Fife style, I managed to get two bottles of ink while being completely unaware of this thread and the creation of a possible FPN exclusive "Polish" ink. I don't think there is a word that can describe my inky skills!

The ink I have is beautiful and very well behaved. My thanks to Lukasz and Konrad for all their efforts.

I've gotten a little confused about these beautiful inks.... are they all IG inks, or just some of them? Specifically, is the #3 Blue spoken of at the beginning of this thread an IG ink? That's the one I'm interested in.

Only some of them are IG inks - on 47 samples I sended only 9 is IG. So they are minority, but Iron gall inks catch an eye ;)

I use on polish FP board - PWF nick "Nicpoń", so naturally inks I made are called Nicpoń inks. But mostly I use nick kwzi - it comes from my name initials.

@Sinistral1 - very nice photos, my photos of inks still does not match the real color. I do not remember is your bottles were labeled in any way - you have Iron Gall Violet#3 and Iron Gall Green #1 :)

I have a lot of tape - and I won't hesitate to use it!

Thank you Kwzi. All your inks are lovely, unfortunately I can't afford them all. :)

First of all, let me tell you that both bottles were marked, one with a label and the other with writing on the cap. Now that I know what their numbers are, I'll stick another label on the bottom for further clarification. The green gall leaked on it's ride across the Atlantic and destroyed the label, but I'm sure when they get the bottles for the Ink Museum display on modern ink makers of Poland, the curators will be able to be able to restore it. To think that I own two original, hand labeled Nicpon iron gall ink bottles, I get light headed with pride!

Oh, good to know you are one and the same. I am more excited now knowing that because I know from time to time I have seen inks posted on here (FPN) listed as "Nicpoń" that I have liked, but in those contexts they seemed like they would be difficult to acquire.

Now I might have to go hunting for those posts....

That's when you go visit them at the safe deposit box. BTW, does the bank staff ever ask you why you are bringing in empty syringes and taking out syringes filled with green ink? (And do they think it is Zombie blood?)

Well, no, I just whip out my pen case with pens filled with cool colored ink, including the Polish "fiolet" iron gall, start talking about my perfectly useable 105 year old fountain pen, pens with Japanese ink in them, pens made in France and Itally and England. Pretty soon a crowd has gathered, watching me write. Then I hand the 105 year old flexy Waterman to one of the crowd and say, "Here, give it a go!" I can come and go as I please at that point. Like an ink burglar.

After all this time, it seems unlikely that anyone will ever [get a chance to] purchase these inks. Oh well.

If we don't "BUY" them, then taking them from Sinistral's bank vault is theft.

UPDATE: Seems that over time (a coupla weeks), the paper absorbs Blue #3, and the ink shadows on the other side of the page. That's the best I can describe it, cos it isn't bleed-through; it's shadow.

I don't know if it happens only with this notebook (Tomoe River paper). The only other KWZ ink I've used in this notebook, iron-gall turquoise, doesn't show this same behavior.

I will make a sample using a dip pen, and once it's shadowed, I'll post the results.

I haven't talked to Konrad about this, but I remember he said that he had reformulated Blue #3 to make it less [something]. I don't remember the exact wording. Maybe my supply of Blue #3 is just very aggressive. Hahaha. Still love this beautiful blue.
