Konrad? Where are you? We can't take orders until we have ink, please check in! The inkers are restless.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I now worry that this makes me look like I feel entitled to the fruits of Konrad's labors. Really, I was just inspired to make up song lyrics! :)

And for those of you who love Iron Gall inks.

Dark iron gall inks are definitely missing on the market! I presume these samples were written with dip pens? Or are they really that dark with a modern fountain pen?

Everything is impermanent.

I have to ask, am I the only one that struggles to tell the difference between some of the blues? I certainly believe they are different colors, but maybe this is a supporting excuse to get a nicer computer monitor.

You are not the only one.

Those were written with dip pen, but also in regular fountain pen they are going to saturated, naturally dip pens always give nicer colors ;)

I wanted to charm fpn with some really nice colors, and wanted to add more highly saturated, greens, browns and reds to list of my colors, but I have problems with feathering and nib creep in them. So it again took some time to try to tune them. Altough I'm still not satisfied with their properties, and I will start those red and browns from the beginning.

Last week I finally admitted in front of myself that expanding number of colors for more reds and browns will take more time then I planned. And started preparing samples. I have to prepare 6 sets of all colors (3 for fpn, 2 on polish board, one for a friend from UK, plus sets in which only some colors are included which gives me ~460 samples to prepare (I have now 47 diffrent colors). This takes time :( Now I have prepared already 386 samples, so it is almost done.

I have a lot of tape - and I won't hesitate to use it!

Oh, I hadn't thought that far ahead yet...I was thinking I needed to find a source for the gimborn bottles. Then Konrad could ship in pouches and we could decant to FPN gimborn bottles.

I'm long overdue for posting photos from Pen Salon Steinhaus (ack, it was at the end of May! And we're organizing another one for mid-August!), but I am determined to post some photos of Konrad and his inks! These aren't great photos (I was really busy that day) (and the sun was in my eyes, har har har), and I wish the one of Konrad wasn't blurry (the last photo, if all goes as expected with the uploads (it's past 3 am here)), and so on and so forth, so let's go:

Konrad at Pen Salon Steinhaus soon after arrival:

Some of his KWZ Inks:

Some inks on the page (sampling, scribbling):

The bottles AND the notepad with all the scribbled samples:

Iron-gall turquoise - written with a wet dip pen. I have a sample of this ink in my Edison Morgan Triumph, an eye-dropper with a very wet F-ish nib, and it's a gorgeous dark not-teal but not-blue and not-green, too. Looks more on the blue side in this photo:

fpn_1402795100__pss_kwz_20140524_05.jpg

Here's the czerwony (cher-vony) (or red) that dries a dark brown if used in a wet nib. In a not so wet nib, at least in my Pelikan Toledo (F), the fresh color wasn't as vibrant and it didn't dry dark brown, but I had tried it in the above-mentioned Edison, and it was cool to watch the color change from this fresh red to the rich dark brown.

fpn_1402795311__pss_kwz_20140524_06.jpg

Another photo of the ink while it was wet (again, dip pen with a wide nib). Wish I'd taken a more organized series of shots of these colors.

If you try to read the Polish words on the right, yes, I know, piękne is not spelled piętne. Duh.

fpn_1402795713__pss_kwz_20140524_09.jpg

And the I'm-sorry-it's-blurry photo of Konrad. What a nice guy!

Looks like you had a blast. :)

The place looks nice too.

I am looking forward to seeing these ferrogallic inks in a fountain pen with average flow and a fine nib!

Laughing, cos... you have no idea how big (small) this apartment is. If I held him hostage, where could I put him?

Maybe Konrad will come to our SECOND Pen Salon Steinhaus in August!
