I did hear from him. E, please pin him down. He's up for consideration for the next official FPN exclusive ink.

Wow, that is exciting! The last I heard from Konrad is that he was 95% definitely coming to Pen Salon Steinhaus. (By the way, Sarj will be there, along with reps from some vendors, such as Kaweco - not yer usual Pen Posse!)

I will certainly be talking with him if he makes it. *Crossing fingers

Wo Hoo!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

  • 2 weeks later...

Pen Salon Steinhaus was Saturday - and what an amazing time we all had, good friends and pen people from England, Israel, and other cities of Poland. The Pen Salon proper was Saturday only, but the good times continued 'til Sarj and Jas climbed into their taxi Monday afternoon. There was a thunderstorm yesterday. (Laughing.)

Okay. This is Inky Thoughts.

Konrad.

What a nice guy! Really - super kind. I do have photos, and I will post some (I still haven't looked at them; I've looked at other people's photos (on Facebook)). Konrad brought his inks, just to try (he did let me fill a few pens, and I did), and he is working on a blue that is less high-maintenance and more water-resistant, less waterproof.

I cleaned out the Nakaya Piccolo Writer of the KWZ Blue #3, cos I'd filled a Sheaffer Triumph Autograph with it, and I will say that cleaning the Piccolo took more effort than usual. There's still a bit of residue, but friends were coming over for dinner, so I put the pen away.

Also, I noticed that if I hadn't used the pen in a couple of days, the ink was lighter for a couple of short sentences. It was cool, though, like actual twilight, from light to dark.

While I'm here, I'll mention the three samples I filled my pens with: Red 3/5 (I think this is the red iron gall (not sure about the iron gall part but pretty sure)), which, in a wet writer, turns to a lovely dark brown (crazy!). In drier nibs, the red turns to a - not sure how to describe it - a mauvey brown?; iron gall turquoise (which is stunning. Maybe it's more of a dark teal. Maybe. But it's very appealing.); and red #2 (not iron gall and, I think, not water-resistant (I haven't tested it), which is a very pretty shade of red).

I have limited experience with these inks (except for the Blue #3 that I have been using almost daily (not primarily, but almost daily) since mid-April), but I'll venture this opinion: they look best when dark and so I recommend using them in wet writers. That doesn't mean that EF and F nibs are automatically disqualified from showing these inks at their loveliest. My Piccolo has an EF nib, the Sheaffer Triumph Autograph has an EF (Western) nib, and the Edison Morgan Triumph is probably an F (Western).

This Blue #3... I don't care if cleaning the pen takes a little more effort; I love seeing this color in my notebook.

I'll make sure to include a photo of Konrad when I post some photos. (Smiley)

I updated green colors, in truth expandindg number of greens a bit. And some other tweaks;)

This weekend I will recheck everything, and on Monday I would send samples.

I would send everything last Monday, but I went on PenSalon and got short of one day ;)

I have a lot of tape - and I won't hesitate to use it!

He's going to send a few for the sponsors to try and we will send feedback. Once we have it ready to order, we can make it happen. Saskia, I'll PM you.

I just stumbled on this thread and I really like that Blue #3, as well as the Violet #3. I really hope a group-buy or FPN exclusive ink happens....actually, I'd just be happy with a sample :D.

I'll keep on struggling, 'cause that's the measure of a man.

I have, for ages, been looking for an ink that matches the color in my head which I'll call "Dusty Rose." It's a rose color with a dusting of grey...

cheers

Here are a couple of photos of the original sample after I held it under running water this morning for about "20 elephants":

Can you hold it under running elephants for about 20 waters?

Any further word on how the ink production is coming along? When orders will be taken?
