What Should The Writing On The Mont Blanc Cap Say.

I'm looking at buying a preowned Mont Blanc (the 162 rollerball) but would first like to be sure the writing around the band on the cap is correct. It is around a 2005 model and the writing on the band reads 'Mont Blanc Meisterstuck Pix', I am unsure if this is genuine as on my vintage models the writing on the band reads Mont Blanc Meisterstuck and then the No. model number. Is this pen meant to say the model number (162) on the band, or did they make them back in 2005 with just 'Mont Blanc Meisterstuck Pix' on the band?

They didn't always have Pix on, and many models have Pix under the clip not on the cap band.

I have never seen a Montblanc Meisterstuck RB with it's model number on the cap band. The 149 and 146 have both gone through phases where their model number was on the cap band though.

The Pix bit was a post-90, so there's a fair deal of them that didn't have them (and not all models had them). (they started adding it around '93-95 or so). So not always an indicator of authenticity, plus some counterfeits have it on them too, just not quite the same.

There are quite a few error in the above linked video, do some more searching for some extra info before you spend your money.

Be careful as there are even more fake Montblanc Ball Pens & Rollerballs than there are fountain pens out in the wild.

Any notable errors to mention? (Saying there are errors and not providing feedback is just about as useless).

Claiming that Montblanc don't fit converters is one big error they do to the likes of their 144 & 145

Comparing a Fake 144 to a Genuine 146/149 is another big error.

Not allowing for production changes, like the presence and location of the pix Logo is another, they don't all have Pix and its not always in the same place when they do

I could go on, but that would just be petty.

He was comparing the 144 to the 146 because the seller claimed it was a 146. you're right regarding the 145 though.

I cannot tell you that it is genuine with absolute certainty. But I can tell you that all of my brand new (2013-2014) bands read "Montblanc Meisterstück Pix" and the Pix has a bit of italics slant with the trademark symbol in the top right above the x. In this case, the underside of the clip should read "Made in Germany" with the serial number engraved on the clip band at the top. Not sure what year they stopped engraving "Germany" on the clip band as well.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

With all due respect to the videographer..

Absolutely spot on re: errors..people believe everything to be correct if it's on-line..

This is a Meisterstück with the word PIX on the cap. I looked but it's not on the nib. This one is authentic. I don't know how much help this gives you, though. They told me what the number is but I forgot.

Taking pictures with an IPad mini is a pain. Trying to focus and not shake, at the same time, is no small feat

I'd say it's got pretty good macro photo abilities!
